Absorb the following facts:

#1 He was an assistant coach on a terrific '95 Championship UCLA team.

#2 He did a great job with Murray State in the late 90's who at the time was widely considered the elite midmajor school. 29-4 one season.

#3 He took Alabama who has zero basketball history to a temporary #1 in the country ranking

#4 He made an Elite 8 and if he were playing a human team in that game he would have had a legit shot of making the Final 4.

#5 He's been AP National Coach of the Year

#6 He's been SEC Coach of the Year

#7 He has landed elite recruits including the #1 OVERALL recruit Gerald Wallace

#8 He made 5 consecutive NCAA tournaments at ALAFUCKINGBAMA

#9 He has major college coaching experience and is a notable "name" coach (though not a star)

#10 He is almost undoubtedly the best coach we've had at NC State in over TWENTY FUCKING YEARS!



We need to come together behind this hire, period. We need to be supportive fans for once. There's been a lot of negativity over the past 20 years and it's fractured the fanbase. We are going to win. We are going to fucking win. We have talent and a coach. We will be a solid team next year and in two years we are going to be a top 25 team without a doubt. It will happen. Everything is in place. Team Gottfried. Fuck UNC.

Initially I was skeptical just because he'd been out of coaching for a little while and didn't have the same type of name recognition as other candidates.

After checking out his resume he seems pretty solid. Definitely has the best resume of any coach that we've hired in a long time.

I don't normally post topics. I post in topics and then my message gets squashed. I feel deeply about what I am about to say.

IF you are a true NC STATE fan you will support our new coach. There is absolutely no reason why anyone should HATE the guy or NOT be happy about it when he hasn't even had a chance to coach one basketball game, let alone one practice. I remember seeing the same thing on here when we hired Tom O'Brien. "This was his record, he couldn't do this, lets compare him to this". It is ridiculous and exactly what people were pointing out when calling us crazy. Half of you are behind the guy, the other half are bitching behind computers AND in person. All I am trying to get across is IF YOU ARE A TRUE NC STATE FAN you will support any coach we have, until the day they are gone. Give the guy a shot to coach a game before you "dislike" him. Furthermore let me ask you....if he can get AlafreakingBAMA to an elite 8 do you honestly think he couldn't get NC STATE there?

I am 100% behind our coach, our AD, our players, etc...and I believe If you are a true NC State fan then....

One thing we need to do is find a good nickname for our new coach. For one, Mark Gottfried doesn't pass the name test. It just sounds like some random guy, not the name of a great coach. For two, I was getting used to only having to type the four letter names of Lowe and Herb

We might have to make Mark work even if it's generic. I'm not doing that CMG or HCMG shit. Fanbases who do that are either terrible and/or full of old people

I could accept just posting a pic of that hot grad student he nailed any time we're referring to him
