So it looks like face was correct in saying that he will have to deal with this ankle all season. So, given that he tweaked it again last night, is he out again for a while?

I wouldn't be sad if he was shut down for the Elon game. But I'd like for him to show up for Indiana, and definitely the road game at Stanford.

oh, i read that, but that's to be expected. that didn't mean he "tweaked" it again.

and regardless, i hope he doesn't play Friday against Elon, we can probably afford to let him get some rest and recoup

As a person who has destroyed both of my ankles over the years, Wood will be tweaking this ankle all season. Hopefully he won't really fuck up the ankle, but it is a good possibility given the speed of the college game. The coaches should definitely make him sit for the easier games.

seriously wood. get off that ankle now. I love having him in the game, but it's not worth wrecking his body for the rest of his life over it. that and he risks it getting worse and sidelining him for the rest of the season when he could have just missed a couple weeks, then get the Christmas break off, and then come back strong and healthy. get some rest Scott!

Unfortunately he probably won't be able to take many games off. He'll probably sit out Elon (he better) but they'll need him for Indiana and Stanford.

After that it's NCCU so he can probably sit again but right after that is Syracuse (fortunately that's almost 2 weeks later) and they'll definitely need him for that game. They'll probably also want him in against St. Bonaventure but after that he can sit until Maryland.

Thirty minutes off the bench against Elon, and 5/6 from three! Hopefully he and his ankle are ready for the Hoosiers.

According to the N&O he's only 7 away from JJ's ACC record (54?).

Loved seeing him hit those mid-range jumpers last night.

From CJW to Wood to Painter...we've hit more mid-range jumpers this year than in the last 20 combined. Lost fucking art.

Scott actually played like a tall player on defense. Exciting.

He was clutch as clutch gets last night, hitting the jumper then icing it away from FTs. What a relief to have a guy who's both smart with the ball and automatic from the FT line late in games.

Also, he wasn't hitting those mid-range jumpers last year. It was unstoppable last night, even when he was guarded closely. I told my brother that I wouldn't mind if Wood shot every single pocession for us. I was only halfway joking.

I think I may legitimately love him:

Nah, but really, I'm impressed with how well he's been doing and adapting this season. I like to see him become a presence on both sides of the court, and he really seems to hold the team together.

He wasn't shooting those mid-range jumpers last year. Heck...he hasn't shot many this year either. I don't know if that was a switch up in the game plan to have him come off those screens at that spot in the floor as opposed to always being beyond the three point line...but I liked it.

He needs to be a little stronger with the ball at the end of the game though. Didn't like seeing him and CJW stripped of the ball so easily.

"A shot to the funny bone left Wood wincing in pain and flexing a numb left hand as he headed to the line for the first time, and Stoglin interjected with some ill-advised trash talk. The normally subdued Wood, who hasn't missed a free throw all season, fired back with some chatter of his own before converting both attempts.

That exchange explained why Wood, after his block on Howard, made a beeline for Stoglin.

"I just heard them chirping," Wood said, "so I figured I'd get my two cents in.""

Gottfried has talked about coaching Scott to move more and create more shots for himself as a necessary part of his development. I'd guess we're being to see the fruits of that labor.

Speaking of clutch, blocking Howard after he made his last two FTs was awesome. Dude pretty much sealed the game at the end (even though that turnover was weak).

He shot a few, definitely not many, maybe 10-15 total. For whatever reason, he was shooting line drives from inside the arc and bricking almost every one.

Agreed about CJW and the turnover; never seen him be so careless with the ball. Getting him out and Alex Johnson in was a good move.

I am assuming that this number includes last season, because I can only count 37 for this season. Is that correct?

I feel like Wood would be an Adam Morrison type player on a mid-major team, with the entire offense designed to spring him open for 3s and jump shots.

Wood would be nothing if he were the only offensive weapon on a shit team. 2/3 every night, 4 blocked jumpers.

Bunch a haters.

Wood looks like Rip Hamilton with that sweet midrange jumper.

How can you be a Wolfpack fan, and vocally "not be a fan of Wood", our best shooter since....
It just doesn't make any sense.

^^ Just lookin at stats they are similar, but wood does have superior numbers. I was not around to really watch archie play so I don't know if he was the reliable shooter that wood is.

His true shooting percentage is 69%. That's fucking sick. Howell is 56%, and all he takes are point blank shots.

indeed

he has made 22 two-pointers (1.2 per game)

he made 24 all last year, so at this pace, he should pass that during the UVA game
