What's the best way to get this shit out? I have limited clearance around it, the bolt is almost completely bored out and there's meltable shit all around it (blow torch probably not an option).

You're going to need an X shaped screwdriver with a red handle. 5/4/2011 4:23:22 PM |

why not just use a torx 45 drive socket?
or a flexible torx key?
edit: wait did you fuck it up trying to get it out with the wrong tool and now a torx won't fit? maybe hammer in a torx the next size larger or if its not torqued down that much just cut a slit and use a large flat head or back out with a chisel or something.

Just get the next size up in a torx or tripple triangle
Why is it rounded out. Looks like plenty of space for an extension and a swivle 5/4/2011 6:07:20 PM |

No...I used the correct Torx 45 bit. I got the other 5 similar bolts out but this one is fucking me. Also, it is a lot more stripped out than it looks. The Torx 45 is just slipping right now anytime I try to turn the bolt.

I'll probably try this next then.5/4/2011 6:37:48 PM |

Get a set of rounded off bolt removers. Looks like you have enough material to use those and get the bolts out.
Also, Seafoam's DEEP CREEP is the shit you need to use, not PB Blaster 5/4/2011 8:00:45 PM |

if you have a set of 12 point sockets, which everyone does. hammer a similar size on and try to loosen it.
its almost the same thing as a bolt extractor set. but on the cheap.. or goto autozone and get a set and return it. just dont funk it up.
you dont need any sorta lube for a jerb like this sir. 5/4/2011 11:51:52 PM |

Sears sells bolt extractors individually for about $4 a pop depending on the size. At that price it's worth buying one when you need it and hanging onto it for the next time you need it.5/5/2011 10:30:54 AM |
