About a month ago I had the pleasure of being shot in the face w/ a 9mm Simunition® round from less than 3 feet, it bleed pretty good but I cleaned it up and showered afterwards. Well, unbeknownst to me, there was still some dye in the wound; the wound has since healed and I'm left with a blue, tattoo just below my nose.
Any suggestions for non-surgical ways to remove it? Drying the skins out so it peels away? 5/6/2011 1:00:49 PM |

sucks dude...probably have to go to a doc for that one, unless you have a pretty big pain tolerance and/or balls to dig it out yourself.

I knew a guy with an "L" shaped tattoo right in the middle of his forehead from where a crowbar with blue grease on the end broke loose and hit him in the forehead. 5/6/2011 7:12:43 PM |

Simunition is used for realistic training of military and police force, basically a cross between paintballs and bullets. Sounds like OP was in a close quarters training sim (hence sim ammo and a flimsy mask) and got shot in the face.
Or he was playing paintball with sim ammo. 5/6/2011 11:44:31 PM |

This was from a training exercise; three people in a room, shoot each combatant once, reload then shoot again. 5/7/2011 12:45:09 AM |

If it was on the job and they didn't provide adequate safety equipment, they should pay for you to have it fixed5/9/2011 4:03:33 PM |

I would guess the dye will be metabolized by your body over time. Has it faded any since you noticed it? 5/11/2011 7:57:00 PM |

I always thought it was cool to train with it...I enjoyed it.
...but no, definitely no way in hell I'd want to go and play a full afternoon's worth of paintball with sim rounds, getting shot many, many times.5/11/2011 11:15:53 PM |

i got shot up pretty badly on a few attempts to enter a house (we were training against some recon Marines who also had the advantage of being in a defensive position)...on the attempt when we finally got in, I sneaked up pretty close to one of those motherfuckers without him seeing or hearing me, and shot him about 5 times in the ass cheek (because there is no body armor or tactical gear or whatever covering one's ass cheek). 5/12/2011 12:01:22 AM |

That would happen on it's own since the outer layers of skin die and come off anyhow.
at least with an actual tattoo, the ink isn't in the layers that come off. The tattoo is several layers down in part of the epidermis that doesn't "come off" and what not. The outer layers of skin are more like a "window" over top of the tattoo. They flake off and change out regularly, but the tattoo doesn't change.
So it could naturally fade away on it's own if it's not actually past the layers that die, flake off, and rejuvenate. But i'd imagine you'd see it gradually fading if that's the case. If it's deeper, i'm not really sure. I guess you could look at laser removal. but that's expensive, could leave a scar, and they say it's far more painful than being tattooed.
it's probably best to go see a dermatologist or at least your regular doc.5/12/2011 12:06:31 AM |
