Actual drive wont read dvd's/cd's but WILL burn/rip. so i have been ripping an image file and mounting it using powerISO. Rosetta stone program apparently only searches my dvd drive when looking to load language lessons. is there a way to set priority with virtual drive or if anyone knows the rosetta software, where can i change the settings to look for the alternate drive?

Try uninstalling Rosetta Stone, then re-installing from the mounted ISO

better idea: replace the physical drive

no clue smoothcrim

think its a driver issue somewhere, but foxconns support site is so fucked.

lewisje, your solution wont work for reasons involving not actually having a rosetta stone disc handy

I'm taking the long view: What if for some reason you ever need to boot from that drive?

Two things you can try:

1) Just unplug the actual drive.

or

2) Go Start > Run >compmgmt.msc and click "Disk Management". Find the DVD/CD-ROM drives listed and right click choosing "Change Drive Letters and Paths". Try switching the drive letters of the disc image and the real drive. You'll probably want to unmount the image and you may need to actually change the drive letter using whatever software you're using.

Of course, this could fuck things up horribly, but it should be something you can reverse.

My real answer is "unplug your DVD drive".
