i'm broke as a joke. keep it in mind.
i was wondering if putting in too much oil would cause the motor to overheat. replaced the radiator 3 months ago...it started giving me trouble again a month ago...there must be a small leak on the bottom of the radiator. hoses seem tight, but there's some fluid on the bottom of the radiator sometimes...i catch it periodically when i'm filling up. i noticed my oil was wayyyyy low the otherday when a friend noticed my engine was clicking loud. i put a quart in and it didn't even show up on the stick so i emptied another in and now it's twice the length of the distance between the two diamonds..WTMFingF. the car seems to shimmy a little on the road. i'm fucking pissed off.
bye. 5/13/2011 9:29:28 PM |

Stop expecting your vehicle to actually just run with little to no maintenance. to cah fucked bro 5/14/2011 12:26:37 AM |

find out where that small leak is. make sure you don't over-tighten the bands holding the radiator hoses to the radiator; the end tanks will crack. make sure it's not the radiator hose that's leaking.
if the "clicking" sound was actually an intermittent "squeak" then you might have big issues on your hands: basically an entire engine rebuild. the main bearings and rod bearings will squeak/squeal metal-to-metal when oil-starved. does it still click now?
an extra quart of oil won't hurt things much but go ahead and drain it to the correct level. 5/14/2011 11:37:02 AM |

remove cap from cold radiator. crack a raw egg into radiator. reinstall cap. drive for 30 minutes. enjoy fixed radiator. 5/14/2011 2:47:25 PM |

There is a reason the new radiator is leaking. Its because the oil pressure is being released from the weakest point in the system because the head gasket is blown.
YOU NOW HAVE TO SPEND THE MONEY TO FIX EVERYTHING THAT IS WRONG. Its not just a simple little fix. 5/14/2011 4:42:09 PM |

took it to a valvoline to have the oil drained. they said the radiator was fine. but they pulled off the oil cap and found some peanut butter--means there's possibly something happening with the heads, possibly a gasket. she cut off on me on the way home but i got her back to my apartment. starts, but i WONT take it out again til i figure it out. how much would a regasket job be? 6/4/2011 10:10:28 PM |

Coolant is blowing through the head gasket and mixing with the oil. Keep driving it and you'll end up overheating (again) and warping the head or possibly the engine internals. It's not going to get better until some pulls the head, cleans the old gasket material off, and slaps it back together with a new gasket in place. I recommend getting in touch with zxappeal and Jeepman to see if they will take it. The head gasket and coolant is cheap, but it's a labor intensive job. They're going to charge you less per hour than most shops for the labor itself which is going to save you money in the long run.

If you're lucky, you won't have a cracked head. Seriously, this is going to require some attention. The more you drive it like it is, the worse it's going to get...until you've done irreparable damage. 6/5/2011 10:00:38 AM |

Dude, just google search Acura Legend and headgasket. The C32 engine in those cars are known for head gasket problems. A head gasket job on a DOHC V6 aint cheap. While in you in there, you might as well do a timing belt, water pump, AC\PS belts, valve cover gaskets, etc...... $1200-$2000
OR
You could just swap in a JDM motor with low miles. And get the Type-II motor, it has more power. 6/5/2011 3:10:45 PM |

Block sealer. Might get you by for a while. I've seen them hold for 100k miles, and seen them hold for 15 minutes. Your results may vary greatly.
If I did this for you, you'd be signing a damage waiver releasing me from ALL engine failure liability. In front of a notary. 6/7/2011 11:51:49 AM |

Well I sure as fuck ain't just putting it in for free. And I'm sure as fuck not getting the "you fucked up my engine" over an 8 dollar buck bottle of sealer that you can't leave in there forever because of potentially sealing radiator flues shut. Especially if I don't know the guy.
It's a complete crapshoot fix. I'm gonna cover my ass if he wants me to do it. Especially because he doesn't know much about cars and the real severity of the situation.

you will be MUCH better off in the long run finding a rebuilt motor and having zx put it in for you.
otherwise you're going to be chasing that thing with your wallet indefinitely. like a dutch dam with always a few more holes than little kids to plug them with. 7/12/2011 5:30:13 PM |

Or for that matter, finding a good used junkyard pullout. I've put shit-tons of boneyard motors in cars. I've also put in a fair number of new engines and reman ones. 7/15/2011 11:20:58 AM |

yeah, no point pulling the same motor from a yard or off ebay. a 3.5 RL swap would be the shit, but that's way way way over budget.
the gasket problem is common with the legends. this is my second. the first didn't have an issue with it though at least not before i sold it at 219K.
idk. guy off craigslist said, 450 for all the labor, and I got to buy parts. I guess belts would be included in my parts inventory? 7/16/2011 9:57:14 AM |
