I know people hate the Red Sox now, but I'm still surprised they don't have a thread (apologies if this actually is already out there somewhere, I couldn't find it). May as well start one now, even if the season is already almost 1/4 of the way through.

Adrian Gonzalez has been absolutely raking the last week. I still feel confident we're going to win the division. Hope Beckett keeps pitching the way he has been tonight and maybe we can get a sweep this weekend to pull to .500 and a game back of the Yanks.

With Buccholz finally getting going and pitching well last night it lines up well with how Beckett and Lester have been throwing (excluding Lester's last start). I personally wanted Victor Martinez back over Crawford, but at this point all you can do as a Sox fan is hope he starts doing something to impact the games positively. Other than Crawford the Sox need Pedroia, Youk (even though the power has been there) and Lackey to start doing something if they ever want to really get on a roll.

Dammit, somebody with the username of our ballpark can't even spell the last name of our second-best pitcher properly ...just fuckin with you (for the record, it's Buchholz).

Yeah, Crawford has been struggling mightily at the plate, but I still think he'll turn it around and I'd still muuuuuuuuuch rather have him than a 32-year-old former catcher who's going to completely break down in year 2 or 3 of his contract in Victor Martinez. At least Crawford will still provide grade-A speed and defense if he's struggling at the plate.

As far as Lackey, I hated that signing when we did it and I hate it even more now. He's a bum, and I don't know if he'll ever get on track this year.

Oh, and El Caballito started out on fire and has been in a slump lately, but he'll level out. He's a consistently great second baseman and 2-hitter.

Yeah I was debating on whether it was 2 C's or 2 H's and just decided to guess rather than google it.

I liked having V.Martinez strictly becasue we got production out of the catcher spot we didn't have sing Tek's prime. I like Crawford and know he's going to level out, but I wasn't a huge fan of the signing when it was announced. And yeah that Lackey signing was a highly questionable one when it happened and it looks even worse now. Theo has had a lot of success through trades recently, but not so much when it comes to FA signings since all those low risk/high reward signings of guys like Millar/Mueller/Bellhorn-Walker/etc. from the '03/'04 teams.

It's hard living in this town with all the Red Soxs fans. I am a huge Angels Fan and watch almost every single game, so I'm far from your avg fan. I've been to Fenway 4 times already this year, and will be there again middle of the week. However, I cannot stand how retarded half the fans here are. They deck themselves out in jerseys and hats, boo the shit out of the opponent, and often a struggling member of the soxs, and they belligerently badger people cheering for the opposing team. I love baseball, and even when losing 7-1 can enjoy the sport and the atmosphere at the ballpark, but these people test my patience. Obviously this isn't all encompassaing, and it's fun to see at least one stadium in the majors consistently fill it's seats, but the rowdy fans who know nothing about the sport except 'Fuck Yeah Red Sox' are getting old.

Another 3-run jack for A-Gon yesterday and another stellar showing from Beckett. We go for the sweep tonight (and a .500 record for the first time all year) with Lester on the mound vs. Freddy Garcia. I like our chances.

Also, it seems like Youk is getting back into a groove at third base. Some incredible plays at the hot corner last night.

I don't trust Daniel Bard with anything anymore. Guy gives up a ton of close games. He's got the stuff, but I don't think he has the type of mindset to be a late inning pitcher.

Nice to win a series against a team that's been unbeatable at home, especially after that bad loss Monday. Half game out of 1st

Outscored two of the AL Central's best teams 28-3 the last two games while Crawford has 8 hits in 9 at-bats in those 2 games. It's all coming together. That said, with Wake on the mound tonight, I fully expect a loss.

yeah, he got a W in his last start, pitched 7+ innings of 1-run ball

i mean, i LOVE wake, love what he's done for us in his career, but seriously...he's old as balls and just tough to rely on for a win because of his impossible-to-predict knuckler. i just always assume he's gonna get rocked so that i'm pleasantly surprised if he does well

Yeah I feel like with how off Lester's been lately, combined with the uncertainty at the back of the rotation the Sox will continue to be streaky until they can get at least 4 consistent starters. Lester normally struggles in April, but hopefully he pulls out of whatever he's been doing in May pretty soon.

It feels like no one is paying attention to the Sox right now, and this is the only time in recent memory the Bruins have stolen the spotlight.

I hate the Bruins, but I've never been in a city when its team won a championship (I was away the summer the Canes won), so I'm trying to get into the hype as much as I can. Baseball can return next week.

^^ And there are probably 30 pitchers who can make the same claim across the bigs. Year of pitcher, not necessarily AL rules, NL drools (although him being in the NL Central helps a lot as the NL Central is certainly much shittier than the AL East).

Marcum is a good pitcher regardless. His stuff can be nasty when he's on.

Just saying.. it's not like he sucked when he was in the AL (EAST, lolz). Either Broccoli Rob has a bad memory of his decent-to-good pitching last year at Fenway (3 GS) or he's just a typical Sawx fan and doesn't know shit besides Pedro and Ortiz and whatever ESPN has spoonfed him over the years. I'm not sayin I know the scouting report of every pitcher in the AL Central last year, but I can probably tell you who was in the top echelon.

In short, I had Sean Marcum on my fantasy team last year and was pleased. Ok back to my shitty team's thread, sry

Need to get the offense going again. I didn't think Crawford going down would hurt that much, but he goes down, Ortiz then sits in NL parks and Ellsbury goes into a slump all at the same time. Yankees now 2.5 up.
