So this morning there is an anti-gay rally going on and i realized how much it disgusts me that people took a day off work to be bigots and protest against someone's personal rights and lifestyle. If it bothers you that much just ignore it like you do everything the government does that should bother you.
But then i noticed we also have the LBGT rally signs up all over downtown too. Which doesn't give anyone the right to protest what you do on your own time or who you are but, it does make me wonder if these rallies just promote more hatred. The goal of society should be tolerance for each-others difference and an over-all unity and these rallies to "celebrate our differences" may just be rubbing salt in the wounds.
what do you think? 5/17/2011 8:18:58 AM |

Rabies, do they help or hurt your stance?
Though otherwise, if a group is going to protest and bitch and moan whenever something crosses their path, I'm going to find them immensely annoying. I wouldn't say it hurts my stance on say, gay marriage, I'm just going to find them extremely aggravating when they complain.

Depends on the rally.
I bet nobody had a problem with sluts before, but who didn't look at those slutwalk photos and go "EWWWW Y'ALL NASTY!!!"?
Rallies should be invite only to weed out those whose presence would hurt your agenda.

I'm rallying on Saturday in center city Philadelphia.
I think that when it's a good, peaceful protest/rally/walk it helps people who are on the fence about certain issues see the momentum building for change, helps people be aware, and shows lawmakers just what kind of support there really is.
Awesome rallies really need good organization/leadership, smart signs, and people who know not to confront, argue or be nasty. 5/17/2011 9:22:57 AM |

What about a gay rally could be promoting more hatred? Do they have signs saying "God Hates Breeders" or "Jesus is my sex-pilot"?
If a rally annoys you, then you probably don't agree with the message of the rally. 5/17/2011 9:41:06 AM |

I don't know how much they help or hurt their cause; depends on how well thought out they are and how confrontational they are. I do think a protester's impact is lessened by at least 40% the moment he or she sits down in a chair while still holding their sign. 5/17/2011 11:07:37 AM |

I used to be very pro-gay, but lately I find that my stance is more "I don't give a fuck what other people do with their lives and you shouldn't either"] 5/17/2011 4:13:24 PM |
