this is my computer, i need 8gb of memory-

help me find the best deal? ive been on newegg and i think im looking for the right thing... i dont know anything about these different brands though. seems like i installed some corsair in an old thinkpad i had once?

and what is timing? 7-7-7-20? 9-9-9-24? how do i know what i need?

GSKILL is usually the cheapest and they make good stuff.

Corsair, Patriot, Crucial, and Kingston also make good stuff but are generally more expensive. Especially Crucial.

You need DDR3 with 1066 MHz speed, according to those specs

the timing you are referring to (7-7-7-20) refers to the CAS latency.

newegg, browse to memory, then to 4gb sticks for your needed speed, then sort by price, then find some that are within the top 10%ish of that list, based on user reviews (quantity and quality).

timing is not important, only PC enthusiasts worry about timing, and it doesn't impact compatibility.

it's more about frequency and type.

if it came with 2 DIMMS (2x2GB) to total 4GB and you need 8GB, you'll need to sell both DIMMs of 2GB and buy (2x4GB) for your laptop.
