I have a bit of driving anxiety (go ahead and make fun)...I've been to Wilmington before but it was several years ago. How bad is the drive...is it deserted for a long time, or are there a lot of exits/houses/stops along the highway?

It's boring as fuck, but there are plenty of stops along the way. The longest stretch without any gas stations and whatnot is probably about 10 miles.

^What he said. Boring ass drive. Going through a lot of woods and farmland. A few exits here and there.

I sympathize with you. It's not that bad, though.

If you have time to kill, I'm pretty sure you can preview the entire trip with Google Street View.

not a bad drive, not too long and its a straight shot to wilmington

there's many exits the whole way

its never really deserted, but you do spend a significant portion of the time going through country-ish, not very populated areas

It may get a little trafficy when you come into Wilmington. Other than that, it's a smooth shot.

not trying to be a douche, just curious......is the driving anxiety driven by traffic, chaos, etc. or is it some fear of being stranded in an unfamiliar area, etc.

it's a pretty smooth drive though

Don't forget to bring quarters for the tolls once you hit Sampson County.

make sure you bring plenty of axles and a few spare oxen. do not, DO NOT, give that injun guide your money, just caulk your shit and float across the rivers.

choosing the banker helps out a lot, you can buy more supplies which may offset your anxiety.

around Fort Laramie check out my sweet tombstone. (spoiler: it says "ASS died of dysentery" poor ASS )

the VA part of 85 to Richmond suuuuuuuuuuuuucks.
i hate the trees and those fucking cops that hide in the little cuts every few miles
especially between 12 and 28 .... 90% of my trips on that stretch i see a lot of cops.

i just had to pay 486 bucks to get out of a ticket for 84 in a 70

cruise was set on 78 and i hit the gas to pass someone in a curve and on the other side a cop was gunning radar.

Probably the easiest drive between decent sized cities in North Caroline. I don't see how you could possibly have anxiety about this.

What this guy said, especially when there is traffic, which is always. I am dreading making that drive this weekend. But if you can make the drive during a low traffic time, it's pretty easy to speed and not get caught.

one rule is you always stop at the 364 exit either to piss at the rest stop or to get gas or go to bojangles

^speed limit is 70 the whole way. Unless you're hovering around the speed limit the entire time its a lot shorter than that. I was at Carolina Beach last weekend and the door to door drive took less than 2 hours, including driving through Wilmington.

It's not like you're driving in Africa here, or even the desert in Arizona, Nevada, etc. It's eastern NC. How in the world can you be anxious about something like this? Anyway, its a super easy drive and takes less than 2 hours. Put on some music you like and have fun. Oh, and if you're not a speeder keep your butt in the right lane.

Dude, that exit has Bojangles, McDonalds, Smithfields, Waffle House, KFC and a few others. In addition it has the old lady selling amazing homeade ice cream out of a vegetable stand in front of the BP on weekends.

Don't limit yourself to Bojangles.

It's 120 miles. At 80 mph the whole way, it would take you 1 hr 30 min. 2 hrs is about right with one stop and taking traffic into account.

^^^there isn't traffic most of the time and why would anyone need to stop on a drive that short?

^^

I mean, when describing a trip from one place to another you can make it as long as you want by stopping often for random reasons. The fact of the matter is if you get in a car and drive a reasonable speed it is easily under 2 hours on average.

Well if you're talking straight highway time, then yeah it's 1.5 hrs. Most people don't live directly off the highway though.
