Starbucks has this new Coconut Mocha Frappuccino that tastes just like a Samoa.

It's the bomb.com.

For some reason, unbeknownst to me, New Englanders call them Carmel Delights.

Sometimes when you buy them here they are sold as Caramel Delights as well. It depends on what manufacturer they come from, I think.

When I sold girl scout cookies I only knew them as Caramel Delights...

I was deeply offended when I first saw these Carmel delights. The people of Samoa don't spend 24 hrs a day baking cookies just to have all the credit handed to the Carmel.

Yeah, I don't care if they say Caramel Delights on the box, they will always be Samoas to me!

A coworker recommended this to me last week because she knows I like coconut. Now that the Samoa connection has been made I'm going to have to try it.

I loved Samoas.

I don't like coffee though, so I'll pass, but if I ever have to drink something from Starbucks, it'll be go time.

You can get the creme version, which doesn't have coffee in it.

People, if you like Samoa's, just buy these.

They are EXACTLY the same.

The last box of Girl Scout cookies I opened had some kind of maggots eating on the cookies. Kinda turned me off of them for a while.

I absolutely LOVE these cookies! When I sold Girl Scout cookies, they were also called Samoas (guess that shows my age). Keebler's Coconut Dreams do taste exactly like them.

And the new coconut mocha frappucino is pretty amazing! I actually switched the mocha to white mocha, but still sooooo good!

I think this thread just took a new turn.

but in my experience, Samoan girls are a little bit plumper than what most twwers prefer.

Yeah it's simple. There are two bakeries and the only cookie name consistent with both is the Thin Mint. AFAICT, taste is not an issue and it seems to be more of a regional thing.

When I moved to Greenville I thought it was an age thing so I'd always tell those little bitches I wanted Tagalongs and Samoas and then just as their bottom lip started to quiver the troop leader would be like "Don't cry Dawn, he just means Caramel Delights!". But that's what they get for waiving that shit in my face at every opportunity!

You can call it whatever you want to call it, but I call it worms in my cookies... that I only discovered after I already bit into the cookie.

Spent the next few minutes spitting and washing my mouth out.

BTW. I'm sure the maggots would have been fine eating one of several other things (they weren't cookie exclusive), but since the cookies were readily available they didn't have to go far to find a food source. Guessing it was these:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indianmeal_Moth
Quote :
"The Indianmeal Moth larvae can infest a wide range of dry foodstuffs of vegetable origin, such as cereal, bread, pasta, rice, spices or dried fruits and nuts. More unusual recorded foods include chocolate and cocoa beans, coffee substitute, cookies, flour, dried mangelwurzel, and even the toxic seeds of Jimsonweed (Datura stramonium). "

I do not like them, but probably would if they didn't have coconut in them.
