limo rides.
Quote : | "Christie and his wife, Mary Pat, flew in a brand-new $12.5 million state police helicopter Tuesday afternoon from Trenton to North Jersey to see their son play in a high school baseball playoff game. They took off after the fifth inning and flew on to the governor's mansion in Princeton, where Christie dined with presidential campaign fund-raisers from Iowa.
The images of the Christies landing on a field adjacent to the baseball diamond - and reportedly riding in a black car with tinted windows the final 300 feet to the bleachers - fit the caricature that political opponents have drawn of a budget-cutter with no sense of shared sacrifice in tough economic times.
Christie has built a national profile from an overarching message of fiscal conservatism by slashing funding for education, eliminating money for family-planning clinics, and, just last month, vetoing spending on two $800 dinners by officials of the quasi-public South Jersey Port Corp. in Camden. Christie's the belle of the ball, man.
I'm a right drifting democrat and I like everything I've heard from him and about him.
He's the hottest thing the Republican's have right now, and if he wants to one day become president his only calculation is how strong his competition will be in 2016 (basically will Peterus run, I think) 6/2/2011 12:47:14 AM |

Quote : | "State helicopters cost $2,500 an hour to operate. Col. Rick Fuentes, superintendent of New Jersey's State Police, said in a statement there was "no additional cost to taxpayers or the State Police budget" for the ride to Montvale in Bergen County.
Christie's son, Andrew, attends a Catholic prep school in Montvale and plays catcher for the baseball team -- the same position that the governor played. Christie and his wife, Mary Pat, flew by helicopter with an aide to Tuesday night's game. A car driven by a state trooper drove them to the bleachers -- a distance reportedly about 100 yards -- and they watched the game for a few innings.
Fuentes said Christie has used state helicopters 35 times since taking office, but did not detail which trips were personal and which were for state business. " |

yeah, Petraeus, will he run in 2016?
it's basically the deciding factor on whether Christie should seriously think about running in 2012
he could think about 2020... but he'll need to lose some weight if he wants to live that long...
...
I still overall think that the Republicans should fucking suck it up and back Romney, he's a good candidate and will show an accepting side of the Republican party (by allowing the whitest dude on earth to run?... oh, I mean because he's Morman which is like bleached white but doesn't represent "their" Jesus).

Amazing how something that costs $2,500 an hour to operate gets used for something other than state business, yet it has "no additional cost to taxpayers or the State Police budget".

I don't really understand people who call themselves Democrats and obviously agree with the Republicans on most things.
My family was mostly Republican voting because they're from a part of the country where they were the moderate, traditional party. Then the GOP went insane and refused to engage in critical examination of its stupid self.
So now I'm a Democrat, pretty much.
It's not a family label. This isn't the Old South. You can let it go.

^^^ Or the fact that the money has already been appropriated/spent, and riding the helicopter up to a certain amount of times doesn't cost the taxpayer anything that hasn't already been taken.
