I'm doing a massive purge of the attic in preps for a little one being added to the family.

I've found all of my old video games and systems dating back to the NES, and also countless different CCGs that I dabbled in over the years.

What is the best way to get some money for this stuff?

I would try Craig's List, but I'm in Gboro so I don't know how often anyone in greensboro searches for "old nes games". ebay seems like it would cost a ton to ship the product.

Any ideas? Or have I missed the boat and most of this should just be donated to goodwill?

Basically a batch of games/systems starting from the NES on up to the PS2 that I'm selling.

I'm going to be out of town for several days, but I'll work on a list and post here.

the only CCGs worth anything is Star Wars and Star Trek, but I've got small bits of netrunner, middle earth, xfiles, babylon 5, redemption, doctor who, and probably something else i'm forgetting. No magic unfortunately...sold all of that off several years ago

Is it better to just have big lots of games to sell, or try and piece them out? I feel like I could potentially make more selling each game, but I just want to get rid of all of it if I can.

Make sure the games work and if they do then wait a few days and see if they work again.

Sell the Nintendo things on eBay separately unless you see that the games aren't going for much individually. Sometimes you might think the games are bad but they're gold.

I just got an SNES without any games, so I'd buy a bunch off of you. I also need a power cord for it.

I also just got a Sega Genesis which needs all cables, controllers, and some games.

I might be interested in buying an NES.

eBay will be the best for individual games and components. Especially highly sought after games and classics that still have a large following (zelda for example). If you want to lot sell you can do either eBay or craigslist. Also, instead of your local CL market post in the Charlotte or RDU markets and be willing to meet halfway or set up shipping to make the sell easier.

CCGs = eBay.

The other stuff is Craigslist or the Flea Market Mall on Capital (there's a guy there who deals almost exclusively in 8/16-bit games).

I sold a Super NES on eBay earlier this year. I normally don't waste my time selling anything less than around $40 on eBay, but it really wasn't hard to put together a bunch of eBay auctions relatively quickly since it was all together and in the same category. I got around $30 for the console with one controller. Most of my games went for $14 using Buy It Now, but a few went for the minimum bid of $9.99. I charged $4 shipping on the games and shipped them "parcel post" for $2 or less, so the shipping covered the eBay/Paypal fees.

When it was all said and done I probably made $100 for 2 hours of work (one hour taking photos/creating listings, one hour packaging & shipping.)

I need to spend an evening and do this too. I always tell myself to hang onto my SNES, N64, PS2 but truthfully i know i'll never touch them again.

Eesh you must work way faster than me (considering the quantity of auctions you're talking about). I always thought of eBay as a huge time sink (used to do a [powerseller] lot of it...not so much any more). Maybe I'll give it another whack.

^ There was the bulk aspect of that one. It really doesn't take much longer to snap a pic of 8 things assembly line style than it does to snap a pic of one. My descriptions were as simple as a pic and "Super Mario Kart for SNES in good working condition." I definitely wasn't spending time to do any cleaning, make sure my pics came out well, load larger version pics to Flickr, etc. on cheap auctions like that.
