I think the cavs should take williams #1 and roll the dice on one of those foreign centers at #2. The risk is higher but the potential reward on those guys is much better than a pg. There will be guards all the time and they have 2 second round picks that they can use on leftover guards like nolan smith.

I am also excited for the knicks to go for the jimmer. I think dantonecould nashionalize him in that offense.

i want the Bobcats to take Alec Burks or Klay Thompson at #9

at #19, just take someone who isn't a pencil thin Frenchie, take someone who can actually contribute

I somewhere recently that Nash could be dealt by the Suns for picks that they would package to move up to #2 and nab home state hero Williams.

Should be interesting to see

a) who is interested in Nash at this point in his career

and

b) what they could actually get for him

I would lol if the Knicks took Selby at 17. It would be an Isiah Thomas-like move by the front office.

I thought he actually looked very slimmed down last November before the injury.

^It just feels just doesn't feel right without the Clippers having a high lottery pick.

How high could the Bobcats trade up for the #9 and #19? I'm thinking 5-7, but Derrick Williams seems like the only guy worth giving up both picks for and he'll be long gone.

Damn this shitty draft

9 and 19 won't be worth a 1 or 2, and the 9 pick is about as good at 3 in this draft...

no need to trade up, if anything i would be ok with the 'Cats trading one of the picks for a pick next year. i don't know what kind of value you'll find at #19, but they should at least be able to fill a huge need in a scoring SG or SF at #9.

"NBA draft notebook: Will Smith be a steal?

June 15, 2011
Tracy Smith isn't listed on many NBA mock drafts. A lot of people don't even know he played in the powerful ACC, where he spent four seasons as a power forward at N.C. State.

And if Smith didn't say it, you probably wouldn't guess he has a strong connection with the Cavaliers' J.J. Hickson.

But there is something about Smith that is beginning to intrigue scouts. Something he is showing on the pre-draft workout circuit that is starting to make teams take him seriously.

It's more than just a batch of skills that has Smith drawing comparisons to Samardo Samuels — another Cavs big man who showed flashes during his rookie year, despite not being drafted. Most NBA types also seem to admire Smith's work ethic, determination and always-underrated desire to prove everyone wrong.

"Not seeing my name on a draft board makes me work harder," Smith told FOX Sports Ohio on a recent drive through Ohio to his home state of Michigan. "It fuels me a lot."

Smith is 6-foot-8 and averaged 14 points this past season. He missed 10 games early in the year with a knee injury, ruining his chance to pad his stats against non-conference opponents.

Scouts liked his talent but not his weight — as Smith checked in at a little more than 260 pounds. But that was three months ago.

Today, he's down to 238, having eliminated sweets and switching to diet soda. He is also putting in extra time at the gym.

The result was an inspiring workout in Detroit, and now, more opportunities to impress other teams, with more workouts to follow.

"His post game has been great, especially with his back to the basket," said one scout. "With all the weight, he lost a lot of explosion. Now, he has that back and a little bit more quickness."

Smith's story is the one you rarely hear. He is one of those guys who gets lost in all the hype, and those draft web sites that tend to focus on 20 or 30 prospects — and know very little about anyone else. The same thing happened to Samuels and New York guard Landry Fields last summer. It happens, in fact, every summer.

But sometimes, those are the guys you want. Guys who don't enter the league thinking the world should bow at the mere mention of their name.

"I would bring rebounding and defense to a team, and a lot of energy," Smith said. "And a little scoring."

Nothing drastic. Just a young athlete who knows his role.

Smith developed a relationship with Hickson during their freshmen year at N.C. State. Hickson declared for the draft after that season and the Cavs selected him with the 19th overall pick in 2008.

They remain close today, and Smith believes having Hickson in his ear only helps.

"Me and J.J. grew up together, played AAU and (at) the ABCD camp, and bonded real well," Smith said. "We stayed in the same room and shared an apartment. I've been talking to him and he's been telling me more about the NBA. He said it's tough, it's very physical and you have to bring it every night. Otherwise you'll be in trouble."

Right now, bringing it every night, or in every workout, is exactly what Smith is trying to do. He hopes the result will be sneaking his way into the draft or landing a free-agent invitation to someone's training camp.

"I'm gonna keep working hard and pushing," Smith said. "Whatever team I end up with will have someone to help them win.""

Tracy and JJ on the same team would be pretty awesome from a State fans perspective. Also, fitting that Cavs are horrible.

Every flavor is a completely different drink. To say that a brand taste bad isn't fair. Multi V and defense are quite wonderful.

They need an effin point guard bad because odds are that Ricky Rubio will be a huge flop next season. I think that they should shop this pick for someone like brandon knight.
