Is there an etiquette in regards to wearing a class ring?
My ring is gold and I like wearing it but it doesn't match my silver watch and I think gold watches look stupid.
Also, some girl asked me if I was Southern Boy because I was wearing mine. I've never heard this. 6/11/2011 6:23:30 PM |

lots of people go to school
only black dudes look cool wearing rings
therefore, a white dude who wears his rings is:
a) uncool b) a southern boy who thinks he's impressing someone by having been to school 6/11/2011 6:33:52 PM |

the best etiquette is to not wear them
because you look like you're holding on to high school

I work with a bunch of MIT grads who still wear their square MIT rings. I think it is pretty silly to wear any sort of college/HS ring but I guess they are just very proud of where they studied. 6/11/2011 6:56:13 PM |

I possibly would have purchased a State ring, save for the fact that around my junior or senior year they switched over to a version with no specialization, did some copyright stuff to make it illegal for other vendors to sell State rings unlike many other schools to boost their profits, and just some like 3 variations of a crappy ring.
I don't think I would have worn it often after I graduated (although maybe some for when I went back to grad school), but it might have been a nice souvenir to have. 6/11/2011 6:59:57 PM |

class rings are rip offs, unless you graduated from a good school and honestly, do you really need another item to wear that can get lost or stolen really easily? I leave my sentimentalism in the form of a piece of paper and move on with my life. 6/11/2011 9:41:08 PM |

Never seen anyone wear a class ring outside of the south.
Don't get me wrong, I love NCSU and will have school spirit until I die, but class rings tend to give the message to people "this is a symbol of the greatest thing I ever did in my life", which is pretty sad for most folks. 6/12/2011 1:24:24 AM |

Otherwise you're just a douche, no matter where you wen to school. Even if you're wearing an Ivy League ring you're still a douche if you wear it. See Andy Bernard character from The Office. 6/12/2011 12:57:14 PM |

This. Most of the ones you see for State look tacky as hell with a big gaudy-red gemstone. I like the simple ones with just engravings or maybe a smaller understated stone. My mom always wore her Campbell ring, but it could pass as a normal piece of jewellery until you got up close and saw the engravings.

I would wear the shit out of my ring if I graduated form an Ivy League school. Don't act like you wouldn't too.
