M-1 is a racket anyway, good for him

vinny is a brave guy, he also is receiving a lo of heat from brazilians because he is working jiu jitsu with chael in preparation for silva

he basically told them all to fuck off unless theyre gonna pay his bills and feed his kids.

Vinny's got some elite jiu-jitsu but I'm not sure that's gonna help Sonnen.

As long as Sonnen doesn't fuck up and leave himself open for another triangle he's got a solid, solid chance at winning. Silva hasn't done anything to suggest he can stop Sonnen from taking him down at will again. If Silva can keep it standing and land from the outside early and often he'll win via KO or TKO, if he can't he could easily lose a decision or get TKOed himself.

well, that's Sonnen's problem in a lot of his fights isn't it?

Chael's only way to win is to last 25 minutes and get the decision because I don't see him getting a KO or submission, but that means he has to last 25 minutes against Anderson attempting to KO or submit him. Just don't see it.

Also,

"In shocking news, Nick Diaz is an idiot."

"The main event of the World Jiu-Jitsu Expo iPPV tonight never took place as Nick Diaz no-showed his no-gi match with Braulio Estima.

There had been rumors this evening that Diaz was not in the building, but it wasn't until just before match time that Cesar Gracie confirmed he was a no-show. At this point there is no explanation for what happened. Diaz was upset after Estima's camp believed yesterday that Estima wouldn't be able to make the 180-pound weight limit. However, in the end he was able to make the weight."

Scored free tickets in parking lot, sitting like 2nd row at this fight by grabbing empty seats. Awesome.

205 lb division has a new contender. Glover Teixera, brazilian. The guy looked deadly tonight. Throwing bombs with precision and has some serious ground game.

Can't wait for tonight I'm a big fan of the heavyweights, Struve in particular. All heavyweight card!!

That was the most enjoyable fight card I've ever seen start to finish.

All three facebook fights were excellent, the FX prelims were great, and the main fights were all knockouts.

The only thing the card lacked were some real wars, most of them were a little too lopsided but that was strictly becasue of the damage Overeem being taken out caused when everyone had to shift up one level to fight someone a little out of their league.

Bigfoot is going to need a transfusion after that, never seen so much blood in my life.

His contract with Vince runs through 'Mania next year, but he might have the sweetest deal WWE has ever signed as far as lack of work required. I can't see him going back to training like mad and having his ass kicked for less money.

Watch Raw tonight. If they mention UFC, the meeting was storyline.

^ how much does he make in WWE??

He's gotta be making over $1M per fight in UFC I'd imagine. He's their biggest draw. For the very top guys you can't just go by what they annouce after the fight for earnings because they also get a share of the PPV buys that is undisclosed...

It's $5 million for ~30 appearances, many of which won't require physical exertion, and most of which won't occur until January.

Silva wants to fight Sonnen to the pain!
http://www.cagepotato.com/anderson-silva-promises-to-beat-chael-sonnen-so-badly-it-will-change-the-image-of-the-sport/
Quote :
"First of all, Chael is a criminal. He’s been convicted of crimes. He doesn’t deserve to be inside the Octagon. And when the time is right, I’m going to break his face and break every one of his teeth in his mouth.”

“The playtime is over. I’m gonna beat Chael like he’s never been beat before. There’s no more talking. I know he’s on the line listening, and the game’s over. I’m going to beat his ass out of the UFC. He’s never gonna want to fight again after I’m done with him.”

“It doesn’t matter if I’m on the bottom, the side, the top, it doesn’t matter. Chael Sonnen‘s gonna get his ass kicked like he’s never gotten his ass kicked before. What I’m gonna do inside the Octagon is something that’s gonna change the image of the sport. I’m gonna beat his ass like he’s never been beaten before. I’m gonna make sure that every one of his teeth are broken, his arms are broke, his legs are broke. He’s not going to be able to walk out of the Octagon by himself. I can guarantee that. And I know that he’s listening. The game’s over. No more shit-talking. It’s on now.”

“I’m just gonna make him pay, and make him eat everything he said, not only about myself, but about our country, about everything. I’m gonna make him pay and make sure that he never disrespects any fighter — not only Brazilian [fighters], any fighter. I’m going to beat him maybe the way his parents should have beaten him to teach him some manners, because he’s disrespectful, he’s a criminal, and I’m gonna beat him up like he’s never been beat before.”

“The first time we fought, he stepped out [as] the loser, and he’s gonna step out losing again this time, the only difference is that this time he’s gonna have to go see a plastic surgeon after the fight.”"

Watching it on YouTube tonight, so I hope the streaming doesn't mess up.

Got my New York strip cooked in a cast iron skillet, bottle of Allagash Curieux to drink, and a salad and broccoli fresh from the farmer's market. I am all set to couch out for a few hours and watch some sweaty dudes beat each other up.

Yeah, I bought it. I've been watching next-day on sites like mma-core.com and mmator.com for so long that I figured I owe the UFC a proper fee, now that they've gotten some online streaming options working for folks like me who don't have cable and prefer to watch at home instead of at a bar.

This was such a great card, but Stun Gun getting hurt gave me a sad. I also enjoyed watching Cody on TUF, so the two short fights so far are a bit disappointing. Still lots of potential ahead though, and big ups to Cung Le for getting his first UFC victory at 40 years of age!

2-0. Knocked him down twice. Forrest leg kicked him a few times. Seems clear cut to anyone who has been in a fight before.

He got two takedowns, then proceeded to do nothing. Forrest controlled the whole fight other than that. Neither one of them did much damage, but I don't see how you can consider giving that fight to Ortiz.

That was a pretty good card last night, although I agree with the anti decision sentiment. I dont think the judges decided wrong last night, however just for a fight to end in a decision is bullshit to me. nobody wants to see that. I absolutely hate it when the announcer says "these two go the distance", like that is a good thing. no one wants to see a bullshit decision, we want to see a decisive victor. they either need to have more rounds until someone wins, or do like pride did and have the first round be like 10 minutes or something.

In saying that, I was hoping sonnen would win, but mad props to silva for hanging in there. I also think silva showed class and sportsmanship in his victory, which is nice to see.

I honestly think silva should move up to light heavy weight at this point since he has pretty much destroyed the competition in middle weight.

How was the knee to Sonnen while he was down not an illegal hit? He clearly hit his head.

^^I too, thought it was illegal, but the quick replay they showed after showed the knee landing on his chest. Something doesn't add up though because other than that knee, there was no knockout blow. Even the hammer fists that ended the fight weren't landing.

Tito lost by that measure too. His face was fucked up and Forrest didn't have a scratch. It was actually refreshing seeing that the judges didn't screw Griffin because he got taken down twice even thought he took no damage once and very little the other tie and then he dominated the rest of the fight. I thought the judges would give it to Tito because most of the time the judges give the wrestlers a huge advantage at the outset because of the heavy weighting of takedowns on the scorecards, but takedowns with no damage are overrated and I am tired of seeing the lay-and-prayers get rewarded.

Tito got beat because aside from the 2 knockdowns, which Griffin got up from, Tito stood flat footed and threw haymakers the entire 3rd round. He was done. Griffin landed like 3 times the blows. You could also see it in Tito's eyes that he wanted the fight to be over in the final round.

Silva is ridiculous. He got taken down early in the first and avoided getting hit too much (for the most part) or submitted by a wrestling champion, barely looked winded between rounds, and avoided takedowns and shots in the 2nd until Sonnen spun himself to the ground. The knee was questionable, but Sonnen said he got caught with the knee. I know there wasn't much time between Sonnen missing the spinning backhand and Silva moving in with the knee, but it looked like Sonnen could have tried to get up, to me. The ref called it because Sonnen was no longer fighting back and was hardly protecting himself.

Props to Silva for inviting him to his BBQ. lol

I think as soon as he started to get up he would've gotten nailed. Since his feet weren't under him, the only options for getting up were to put his hands down (obvious nonstarter) or to push back against the cage, which would've left him awkwardly vunerable in the midsection as he started to push himself up from the ground.

There was hardly anyone where I was watching it that thought Forrest should have won. Tito did the damage, the scoring system is just broken and its a major reason ufc is in such big decline in this country.

^LOL. So the 2 takedowns should trump 3x the strikes landed? UFC is on the decline? Just BC it's not at the peak that it hit in 2010 doesn't mean it's still fading. Early reports are this ppv had well over 1 million buys.

Jake shields was at the table behind us during the fight. I wish I'd asked him who won the fight haha.

They're trying to turn fighting into a sport which is dumb. Stats are stupid for fighting. The guy with the knockdowns would win in boxing. The guy with the takedowns would win in wrestling. Yet somehow the ufc only cares how many times you kick the other guy in the ankle.
