Here's CJWilliams dunking on some guy in the Chavis league:

Run by Raleigh Parks & Rec, held @ St. Auggie's, been happening for 40+ years.

I'm guessing it's named after the same guy as Chavis Park on MLK Blvd.

I think that with Gottfried, and his change in offense, you'll see at least one surprise in the starting lineup. Considering the way the high post offense uses the 5, I strongly doubt Howell will play it, unless his butterfingers have disappeared. Also, how long are we going to keep Wood at the 3? And CJL at the 4?

And in regard to the summer league, I heard people are playing Chavis until the Pro-Am gets sanctioned. I never found why they haven't been already, but I guess they are in the process or something.

I've never seen a player go up for an easy rebound and have it just go through his hands out of bounds as much as Richard.

That being said, if he gets in shape for the first time he can be a very good player for us.

^^^^^ I do agree with you that we'll prob see at least one surprise in the lineup.

Prob as long as they are both here. Where would you play them?

Quotes from Wood's dad (which I'm not digging up) made it seem as though Gott told Wood he was playing the 2 this year.

he averaged 6.5 rebounds in 18 minutes. (and 7 pts) If he did drop a lot of rebounds (which i don't recall happening on a regular basis), and if he can improve that, and if he gets more minutes, he's should be a double-double machine.

Hopefully, but his averages over limited playing don't correlate to being a "double-double" machine. But I think I've made this argument before.

If he trims down he can definitely be a very good player. I'll leave it at that.

New video of Alex Johnson highlights on Pack Pride. Some things of note:

-He seems really scrappy on the defensive end getting steals, loose balls, etc.
-Dude has some serious range on his threes.

Ole Roy just made some comments about the NCSU coaching position. When asked what he wouldve said to someone calling him to ask about the open position during our search, he said its a great job and we have "4, 5, 6" great players on our team, one of which transferred.

Lol at harrow being a great player. He was good against bad teams and bad against good teams.

Lorenzo is a much better option at PG.

Howell is one of the elite rebounders in the country, I'm expecting a 11ppg, 10 reb, 2 ast type season out of him now that Tracy's minutes are open.

This season it is going to be critical that everyone stays healthy. An injury to one player would be a major impact.

I think we see more Kendall Smith this year. He appeared some last season, and with a new coach and the loss of Tracy and Uchebo not coming, he may get some more minutes.

Larry Harris to Rhode Island. Solid A10 team.

hold on just one goddamn minute. i was assured that larry harris would immediately be snatched up by kentucky or kansas, b/c everyone in the basketball world knows what a valuable asset he is.

there are some guys that can just go out there and play but with the coach watching, in a system, they never figure out how to translate that into how they fit into that system. You can tell CJW doesn't look like he's even thinking, he's just playing, looks so fluid, even looks, dare i say, "fast/quick".

^CJ's dad had some telling stuff to say after Lowe got canned. Can't remember exactly what, but the gist was that his system really restricted players ability to play naturally/instinctively out there.

If CJ could get hit his 3pt shot with consistency, he could be a huge asset offensively. Right now, he's a hustle, defense, rebound guy who can occasionally hit a nice mid-range shot. Adding a respectable 3 pt shot could really open things up for him and other guys on the team (namely Brown and Leslie).

if CJW can emerge as a veteran go-to guy that would be so huge for us. He's got the size to be a perfect compliment to Zo, CJL and Wood on the offensive end, he's just always been too slow or something

the rest of the rosters are posted, lots of bigtime players that are supposed to be there. Of course, a lot of the same names were on the roster last year and I didnt see any pro players (besides Brendan Haywood)

cjw really has a nice stroke, as evident from the vid. and he was killing it in the 3 point contest last year in the red and white game. he just hasn't been consistent during the season (when it matters)

Anyone heading to the ProAm tonight? So far, all I've seen is that Lorenzo won't be there, but i'm still interested to see some of the new people in person, like Alex Johnson or Tyler Harris. And of course da Jules from Harlem on his way to stardom.
