I spent like 2hrs last night drooling over this thing. Obviously a real DSLR will be your best camera, but i also want something that can fit into my pocket and this is the one.
16x zoom 16x ultra-wide angle for panoramic photos (it tells you when/where to move for the next shot!!) 10fps burst mode full HD movie mode GPS tracker for exact location mapping of all your photos....
want!!!
it's $349.99. Saving up now. 6/21/2011 11:26:06 AM |

^^^by saving up i really mean put on credit card and pay for it later, sorry for the confusion
^^i read a ton of reviews on bestbuy.com and through CNET and the biggest complaint i heard was that there is a bit of a lag time between shots (unless you are using burst mode), but from what I saw other people say was the lag time is really only significant if you are a serious photographer/pro and used to an SLR camera that you can just mad-click the shutter for multiple photos. For me its not quite as necessary, and if needed ill just switch over to burst mode and problem solved.
Other complaint I saw was no viewfinder, but again, not really a big deal for me.
and for $350 you really cant ask for a better deal in quality/features for a digital camera

as a guy, i find that spending money on a digital camera is a waste of money. they are too big to fit in a pocket so you won't always have it with you and there is usually a girl around with a purse and a camera already. i bought one a few years back and used it maybe 3 times because i never had it on me.
finally i bought a cell phone with a quality camera and now take pictures of things all the time
this has been another rbrthwrd useful advice post 6/21/2011 11:37:48 AM |

lol i mean there are uses for it
but i just think that for me personally i could see it coming in handy in situations like BigHitSunday mentioned which almost never happens.....unless you hike a lot (which i covered in my op )
^ i rarely ever hike. and if i do its gonna be in umstead or some shit where i can take the pic and then tell people...oh its in umstead on this path ahaha

even if you can place something in a map, its nice not having to do it multiple times. gps stamps automate that so you can post your adventure on a map. you don't need to be hiking to enjoy that feature, i use it for vacations with road trips (cell phone does it). 6/21/2011 12:10:50 PM |
Joie begonias is my boo 22491 Posts user info edit post |
is that so you personally can go to it again?
also vacations and road trips-its fun to get lost!!! ive found some of the coolest spots because we put the gps up
but i can see where ya'll are coming from.

this. i mean i take my DSLR with me when i know there are shots i want to get but i just cant justify carrying around a little point&shoot everywhere when a cellphone can do a decent enough job on its own]6/21/2011 12:23:58 PM |

Unless there are some really bitchin' cell phone cameras out there that I'm not aware of, the difference is really noticeable to me, especially if the camera in quesion has some manual control available. I keep my Canon S70 in the car pretty much at all times, and if I think anything photo-worthy will be happening it comes with me. And that's kind of a bulky bastard. If I had something smaller that didn't basically take up an entire pocket (really want an S95 but can't justify spending the money at the moment), it would be easier yet. 6/21/2011 12:51:36 PM |

which is why this comes with me on every backpacking trip
at least, backpacking is the initial reason i got it, but it is very cool to have all of your photos geotagged so you can see on a map exactly where you took the pictures...and the reason it now comes with me everywhere i go...i also really like seeing a map of everywhere we walked/drove
it was very nice to have on my honeymoon in switzerland and italy because there's no way i'd remember exactly where every picture was taken

i refuse to take my DSLR with me on backpacking trips...it's crazy heavy and the chance of breaking it is significantly higher than everywhere that's NOT backpacking...there's not a consumer-available cell phone out there that takes pictures worth a crap compared to a decent P&S
