just watched the pilot. I was hoping for a little more law substance but it wasn't terrible. The characters are likeable and the ones you don't like are supposed to be that way. Either way it's better than Zach playing lawyer on Passing the Bar.

i'm planning on watching the next episode, it has potential. i don't see it winning any awards, but it seemed like a pretty good summer show.

Its pretty good. Reminded me more of white collar than burn notice.

No way it's like Burn Notice. There's no internal monologue, no sassy mother, no gun slinging ex turned non-ex, no old enemy turned friend.

Yes definitely White Collar 2.0, in no way like Burn Notice.

And I can't look at Harvey without thinking of him in "American Outlaws" haha.

You people realize that White Collar is a slightly modified Burn Notice right? All of the USA shows are just tweaks on the formula they established with Burn Notice.

if Will Arnett was a lawyer, he would be Harvey

if you put it extremely generally, all shows are really the same. some strong character we're supposed to like and his/her friends go through conflicts we're supposed to care about

^It's a bit more specific than that though:

Quote :
"Today when considering scripts, Hammer and her team ask a routinized series of questions:
Does the show have a fun sensibility? Does it have a "blue sky" tone of hopefulness? Does it revolve around an "aspirational," if quirky, lead character with a moral and ethical center? Potential shows are scored based on how closely they match these dictates; only high scorers make it on air. "

^^Yay for article from '09. I don't see this series taking the direction of good-hearted intentions that go awry every once in a while but always solve themselves in an hour. I think they'll play a lot more to Mike's not-by-the-book/illegal tendencies and continue to develop Harvey as a likeable guy but keep reminding us he's still a hotshot lawlyer in NYC. Like the whole thing with the judge's wife...Harvey went above and beyond the call of duty in screwing over that guy...

^ It's hard to go above and beyond screwing someone when they're blackmailing you.

I do agree with your general assessment about where the series is going, though.

I actually really like that show...and the wimmenz were hot on it as well. Much better than Franklin and Bash.

I keep catching partial episodes of Suits and I like it. I need to try and piece together a full one.

Just caught up on the last 3 episodes...still pretty good stuff. I'm digging the continuous character development with the twists and turns even with the finish-a-case-in-60-mins style.

all five episodes:

***SPOILER***

I'm glad they didn't take the easy route of Rachel immediately going out with Mike, but at the same time the whole "I don't date someone at this firm" is pretty generic as well (unless they come up with some crazy back story on why that's her policy).

i'm thinking Harvey bwned her at some point and she regrets it so now her policy is not to get involved with anyone in the office.

I really like sarcastic, condescending, scheming, manipulative Louis.

Good episode tonight

Bet Mike will about to be exposed in the summer finale, or then he will start going to some part-time law school.

you can tell Mike is scared of getting caught and the same thing happening to him as what happened to that guy Stan in the last episode. he saw Stan as an older version of himself and is now conflicted as to what to do regarding his job security and possibly something criminal. the fact Mike has turned to Harvey on a few occasions now and simply gotten "don't worry, you won't get caught" every time shows the frustration and overall concern Mike has. Harvey not having emotion is great in the court-room for business but when it comes to someone like Mike, who is genuinely asking for help and getting nothing in return, shows he can be a real dick.

ps rachel is way hotter than the blonde chick lol

USA's shows mostly have a positive vibe but that in no way makes them the same show.

Besides, Psych came before Burn Notice, and Monk before Psych.

I think the acting on this show is far better than any if the others...

Harvey's character is interesting. I like seeing more revealed each episode... wondering what side you'll see next. Everyone else, you sort of know where they're going and what will happen with them.
