and how do I remove it without an impact wrench?

The frame gets in the way of using a crescent wrench and socket or 2 crescent wrenches

How do you remove it without an impact wrench? You borrow an impact wrench.

I put an 8 foot long pipe on mine and couldn't crack it, but it had been sitting for a few decades. A good impact wrench spun it right off. Took two of us to hold the bike down though.

Call me stupid but I am thinking about it. If its like a crank bolt on a car and it just turns the motor over it will work. If the bold just won't turn then heat the bitch up. I've never had a bolt whoop my ass so this won't be a problem.

if you turn the engine over while pulling the other way, you'll just tighten it more, assuming right hand threads, right?

that's the thing. different years have different threads. It spins freely so I can't tell which way to turn it

I'd ask a mechanic how they get it off

I'd imagine that in the absence of a locking mechanism, it's threaded such that the engine torque applied to it tightens it.
