How the fuck do you get used to these abominations. I've had a ring for 4 days and I think I hate it more every day. Do you wear a ring a majority of the time? Also I feel naked if I don't also wear a watch so now I'm doubly irritated, although the watch irritation is <<<<< ring irritation.

At first, I just reminded myself that it symbolized the great love I share with my wife. I'm sure your balls will drop eventually.

I don't see why a ring is necessary to show love for your partner. I don't ever plan on wearing one other than on special occasions.

ps. google "ring deglove"

A ring isn't necessary, but it's a well known symbol in our culture. Don't be lame.

I had a platinum ring at first. it was heavy, and i was constantly playing with it... i lost it pretty soon after getting married.

replaced it with a titanium ring. $90 vs. $1000 (DOH).

but the titanium ring is practically weightless, and i wasn't as aware of it as I was with the platinum. I don't even remember the last time i took it off. Hell, I don't even know if I can.

I don't care about tradition. I don't like wearing rings, and I can show my dedication in other ways.

How does it save your finger and why are you doing so many things that would damage your finger without a ring?

I worked with a guy who lost his finger on the job thanks to his wedding ring. He went to hop down off a ladder, the ring caught on something, and his finger stayed with the ring while his 200 lb body went it's own way. Apparently it's not that uncommon.

I have a tungsten carbide ring, and I, too, have had it save my fingers a few times. It also makes me feel safer lowering heavy shit like furniture to the ground.

I like the way it clinks against my drinking glass, too.

no it not i'm not allowed to wear mine @ work.

Nut broke loose working on my car's suspension and i didn't have my gloves on, i punched a control arm and the ring hit first...

Quote :
"A common misconception concerning tungsten carbide rings is that they cannot be removed in the case of emergency medical treatment, requiring the finger to be removed instead. This is not true. Emergency care providers have specialized tools that allow them to easily break tungsten rings into large pieces. As a result, it is easier and less dangerous to remove tungsten carbide rings than gold, silver, or titanium without injuring the hand or finger.[17] An easier way to remove tungsten carbide rings is to use a tool such as a vise, which can be used to shatter the ring.[18]"

well thanks wiki, that was my main reasoning behind not getting a tungsten carbide ring.

the more you know.

I had to explain that same thing with regards to titanium rings to my girl and the lady who owns the jewelry shop she works in. I was like "Haven't you people ever heard of Snopes?"

I don't mind rings, but being in the Navy and watching those safety videos has pretty much made me aware that I shouldn't be doing manual labor with one on.

example:

slip off of a ladder and the ring is the only thing that catches on something to catch your fall

the skin and muscle of your finger is gonna come off like a glove

DO NOT CLICK UNLESS YOU WANT TO SEE AN EXAMPLE OF THIS, K

Definitely not. I do think it's weird that AlaskanGrown wears his ring even though it irritates the shit out of him. Just seems unnecessary to me. If you don't like it, don't wear it.

And lots of people do frown upon not wearing a wedding ring.

we opted to get a tungsten cock ring instead of traditional wedding bands. the worst part was airport security on the way to our honeymoon. that and winter time.

my buddy got his "wedding ring" tattooed onto his finger. That way he's still "wearing" it while at work (where it can't have things on his hands for safety reasons) and when they go out the real ring covers it up. I thought it was a cool idea.

i gotcha that's 100% understandable.
but i think the point is- he wants to and is trying to get used to it.

i dont think too many people here will.
and actually i dont *personally* know too many people in general who would. (i know they are out there!)
except for maybe my old school relatives (grandmas and great aunts etc etc)

i always thought ring tats were really cool.
but i could never find one i liked.

a significant number of people with traditional values would absolutely judge someone for not wearing a ring

in some circles it's taken as confirmation that someone is fucking around

^yeah i understand that

i went back and amended my post.
i think i really lucked out with my friends/family/even acquaintances though because i am 99% sure they would be totally supportive if i or cod chose not to wear rings.

i used my anecdotal evidence and applied it generally.

my fail

Mine drove me crazy to start with. I fiddled with it so much I got a blister on my ring finger. After a few months, I didn't notice it anymore. Then I temporarily lost it several years ago and basically I haven't taken it off since then. It feels weird without it on now, my hands go all 'Ricky Bobby at the beginning of Talledega Nights'.
