curious if anyone has taken any of the classes or been by to check out the place? i heard the classes are great and with a membership you are allowed access to all of the equipment anytime.

Been out there and taken a tour. It's very nice and they have a lot of neat stuff, but it's way expensive unless you have a specific project you've designed and need to fabricate or build. 7/7/2011 7:23:12 AM |

^therein lies the problem. The big deal is you have to take intro courses to the shop stuff and check out on it before they cut you loose. And those courses cost money. Sure, the membership is cheap, but they get moneys out of you one way or the other. Read ALL the fine print before you join. 7/7/2011 8:00:15 AM |

If they have the same equipment as the west coast techshops, the money you pay is a fucking pittance compared to what you get access to.
A single project using a 3axis cnc (or 5 axis if they have one), or a 3d printer will recoup your costs. 7/7/2011 11:55:25 AM |

Yeah, I think I'm going to do some this winter when I have more time. For all the money I wasted on education at NC State I don't see a problem dropping a few hundred bucks to learn some useful skills. 7/7/2011 3:43:32 PM |
