Does anyone else get these?

I get them every.single.night. really really bad.
it wakes me up.

cody tells me that im a furnace when i sleep and he can't be near me because i radiate so much heat.
there's been more than one occasion when he thought i had a fever!

about 1-2 times a week i have to get out of bed and either go stand in front of the fridge or lay on the bathroom floor for 5 minutes or so....

i can't be the only one.

I get them sometimes. Strangely enough I get them more often when the room is too cold (which for me is quite cold). I don't feel particularly warm though, just wake up in a sweat.

i get them almost every night as well. but i am like Skwinkle. i found it's worse when the room is cold - so basically i get them more in the winter than in the summer. my dad gets them really bad too so i'm assuming it's genetic?

I woke up soaking wet two nights ago from sweating in my sleep. I usually sleep on top of the covers to keep from getting hot, but for some reason I decided to crawl underneath the blanket that night.

I use to get them a lot. Now I get them once or twice a year ( these past two years ). Don't know why they stopped.

Although I do sweat a lot normally ( when i'm awake ). For example, the last two days I have sweat through my all of my shirt just by walking around in this humidity. I am fit/athletic.

I've always thought I had night sweats was because I sweat so easily even when im not sleeping.

I've been getting them a lot lately and mentioned it to my professor...he says it has to do with your inner core temp and metabolism. That the higher your metabolism is working, the higher your core temp and you will be hotter feeling.

so its actually not a bad thing, means your body is working...but it sucks...made me start wearing a t shirt here lately.

Not a sufferer here, but a friend of mine is. She started a business with these sheets made from under-armour like material (I think): http://wickedsheets.com/index.html Alli is an awesome lady, everyone I know likes their sheets. This might help out, not trying to pimp her product, just thought I'd offer a possible solution. Best of luck to you all!

I get them all the time too. I usually sleep on top of the covers in the summer and still wake up in the middle of the night sweating my balls off. I keep a large standalone fan next to my bed, I just turn that bad boy on to full blast when I wake up and it helps a lot.

Occasionally. For years though I've just been turning the AC a few degrees cooler before bed every night. If I sleep with someone I have to sleep way far away from them or I get way too hot.

air movement makes a huge difference. i have this problem sporadically, mostly due (likely) to the metabolism factors mentioned above. a ceiling fan helped me immensely.

just a note though, when i got my web hypochondriac on to look into it initially, they mentioned that this can be a sign of cancer, so just something to keep in mind.

I wake up drenched in sweat every night.

however, this has more to do with the fact that my wife insists on a down comforter in the middle of summer.

She's so cold natured that she wears a hoodie around the house with sweat pants because she's so cold. Of course, I'm the polar opposite, and get hot very easily.

I learned a little about this in school. Sleep hyperhidrosis, night sweats, are most commonly seen in people in the 20-35 range. It's not completely understood why this age group has night sweats the most, but anxiety can be a common reason. There are a number of reasons why someone may get night sweats. I know menopausal women sometimes get night sweats. A lot of people see them lessen as they get older.

I've grown my hair out pretty long recently so whenever I get night sweats it sucks even more. I don't get them as often as I did these past few years. I would sometimes have dreams with common themes of missing something important. I remember having a dream last Dec where I was in my last semester at State, and I had gotten all the way to the week before finals and I find out that there was a class that I had never been too, and that passing it was required for graduation. I woke up soaking wet and cold. For reference, I graduated in Dec 06.

Man, I am a sweater too, but I only started this like a few years ago. I am typically cold nature. Its aggravating when I wake up, and my pjs (which are usually PJ pants and a t shirt) are soaked. So I tried sleeping to the bare minimum, and I still wake up sweating.

It kinda worries me. I was doing some research and found that there are toxins in plastic bottles that act like endocrine disruptors. These endocrine diruptors give a pre-menopausal effect to women in their late 20s to early 30s. :-/ Not sure, but maybe a viable theory. Anyone else hear this?

I also think it may have to do with stress. As of lately, I haven't been nearly as stressed, and haven't had nearly as many night sweats. I don't know!!

High stress levels have a positive correlation with night sweats in many individuals.

I hadn't really put much thought into it, but for the last few months I've been waking up soaked almost every night. I always just figured I'd been sleeping hotter for whatever reason, but now that I think about it there hasn't been much else that has changed, and the gf tells me I sleep reeeeally hot...stress perhaps? I dunno.

It happens to me, but only when I'm sick. Don't necessarily have a fever.

I would be more concerned, but luckily, I look excellent covered in sweat.

I get these often. I wish it was because I am so fit that I burn ultimate calories while in REM but I really don't have a clue as to why it happens. It does happen more often when my room is really cold and I am so comfortable underneath my comforter.

posting on tdub is causing the night sweats.

regarding your points:

1) I get horrible anxiety too. My mind is racing so hard at night about things I need to do that I can't get to sleep without being exhausted or with the help of sleeping pills.

2) I'm extremely hot natured all the time. I put off heat constantly, and my extremities are never cold.

3)I'd like to think I don't have a really good metabolism, based on how easily I can put on weight. Then again, I eat a LOT.

4)I drink about 1-2 times a week, but it usually 3-4 beers on the golf course or 1-2 glasses of bourbon/scotch. I'll rarely have more than 4-5 servings of alcohol at once unless I'm on vacation somewhere.

1. I don't really have bad anxiety. I do get stressed out sometimes about things but never to the point where I can't really sleep.
2. I am pretty cold natured but when I work out, I get red really quickly and sweat profusely.
3. I have an average metabolism, maybe even a little on the slow side - hard to tell for me at this point. It wasn't working and now it is.
4. I rarely drink anymore - maybe 1-2 drinks a week max.

When l am stressed I occasionally get these. No one THINKS they are high stress or have anxiety but I imagine 9 out of 10 people who have this or -- who was it? Cadwal? -- the grinding/sore jaw have it due to anxiety of some sort.

1) Yep, I have been super stressed out alot.
2) Yep, I am always cold during the day, wearing a jacket as we speak
3) My metabolism increases when I am stressed out, and slowed down when I am chill
4) I save my beer drinking for mostly on the weekends and anything passed 2 beers in a given day and I am out like a fat kid in dodgeball

AND I am in my late 20s PS I do not feel old at all either

One of my friends gets this... she changes her clothes in the middle of the night, its that bad. And sometimes sleeps naked because of it.

She's cold natured, and uses a lot of covers, but this happened in the winter. Haven't asked her about it recently.... she was 23 when it started... shes kind of worried about it.

I asked her if she had it happen if she didn't sleep at home, but she hasn't slept outside of her bed in a while.

I be curious if yu guys find some common thread, cause she hates it.

I have had this exact same dream at least 5 times in the last year or so ... and I graduated in May 06. Weird.

I get the night sweats too; not every night, but a few a week. Sucks pretty bad. I started wearing old t-shirts to bed so the sweat doesn't get soaked up into my sheets. Doesn't really fix the problem, but it's better than laying in your own sweat

Thyroid problems can cause night sweats. My son has Hashimoto's and it causes is thyroid levels to be all out of whack. If he's going through a period of hyperthyroidism, I'll go to wake him up in the mornings and he'll be nearly naked and just covered in sweat.

I get these really randomly.

I havent pinpointed it yet but I get these usually during the summer or during the spring where its just not quite cold enough to open the window and not quite hot enough to turn on the AC.

-Keep AC unit anywhere from 67-69
-I can get stressed at times but usually im pretty good about keeping it under wraps.
-My metabolism is off the charts. Working out makes it worse (better?)
-Generally run hot especially with someone else in the bed.
-Like being in colder environments
-Drinking, i am a weekend warrior. Will drink a glass of wine most week nights with dinner. Less lately though.
-No caffeine at all

Well I'm in the age range.
- Metabolism is average or worse, I have to work at maintaining my weight.
- usually feel warm in the day actually.
- definitely have some anxiety, and going to sleep is usually hard for me for whatever reason.
- dream a lot but don't usually remember it. When I do, yeah messed up.
- drink some on weekdays (events or random hanging out/sleeplessness) but frequently on weekends.
- barely drink caffeine.

I think a lot of it may depend on if you eat or drink any calories/caffeine/alcohol a few hours before bed.

My guess for probable causes:

Caffeine after noon
Alcohol or snacking <3 hours before bed
Meds
