This song and group are amazing. My dad introduced me to them when I was just a wee one. Have loved weird music my whole life. Embed if you like me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxbXq_FLrRI 7/22/2011 2:04:38 AM |

that shit is terrible (and isn't even close to being "weird" by most musical standards, but whatever)
but "don't lie to me" is a big star song
so here's a better big star song

Hey smart ass if I embedded it MORE people would watch...
Dude I have a copy of 'felix the drum machine', that is honestly way more terrible... Give them a break, it was the early 80's, and I know it ain't the 80's but come on... Definitely weird by that day's standards. Anyway...
this one is better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-sFK0-lcjGU

You're absolutely right. With that said, we were fifteen year olds with a four-track and cough syrup...did you expect it to be good?

I guess if you think hip-hop and new jack swing are weird, then it's weird, but I don't.
The Shaggs are weird. They're not even listening to each other.
Also, I completely admit that my bias against Art of Noise is an extension of my hatred of Yes. The thing about Art of Noise is that they really just made a technological leap (as prog rockers are apt to do); the motorik thing Kraftwerk were doing at least made the strange choice to attempt and eliminate groove. ]7/22/2011 3:36:56 AM |

I know VB is educated in the miusics. After a couple nights of looking around I can't say for sure what the hell is werid anymore. The shaggs stuff is definitely weird... Really not even very listenable,,, which is totally subjective. Baby it ain't the 80's was my favorite song on there. I didnt expect anything, but there was a notable lack of variation (only complaint)
But yes art of noise probably regurgitated some pre-existing musical patterns in a new-sounding manner. I probably have a biased favor towards them because I was putting together legos listening to this stuff at an impressionable age.
Also, aside from the 'planet exploration' and 'pound puppies' tapes I listened to before 5 years of age, I also listened to the best of Yes, and damn, that fucker can wail and whine, but I still love Yes. I recently found the tape and listen to it pretty regularly. Its so 70's it hurts at times, but the music is still there to be heard and loved, and damn if it isn't moving. Again, definitely biased. I know shit about music. 7/23/2011 6:55:27 AM |
