New trailer debuted yesterday. Thoughts?

First off. I was kind of hoping they wouldn't revisit the origin story. Spider-man is like Superman everyone knows how they got their powers so we don't need it retold. That might just be me, but already I've decided that this movie isn't worth watching because they're sure to waste at least half the time on back story, power origin, and power acclamation. I guess what I'm saying is that it's far too soon for a Spider-man reboot (for me at least). It feels like this is just Spider-man part 1 with different actors. Or at least +50% of the movie will be.

The last half looks to be a Mirror's Edge PhysX tech demo. If any length of the movie is in that style it'll be a huge turn off for a lot of people I know that get "sick" when watching first person video games.

The one thing it had going for it... I didn't hear

The whole time I watched it, I felt like it was almost identical to the first Spiderman with toby. Doesn't seem different enough...plus as someone mentioned, it seems too soon.

not sure how i feel about this. i definitely think it is way too soon. when I see spiderman I think tobey maguire and half expected to hear his voice at the end of the trailer.

They probably reboot because the actors either don't want to do it or want too much money.

I like that they actually use Gwen Stacey this time.

I guess it kind of goes without saying, but after seeing the trailer I'm even more convinced that this isn't a reboot, it's a remake... of a movie that's less than a decade old.

holyshit came here to post that. The movement on the buildings is freakishly similar, and frankly it looks about the graphic quality of MIrror's Edge--that trailer sequence is honestly just bad, I thought maybe I was somehow seeing a video game promo for the movie already.

I'm less worried about people getting sick from the first person movement and more worried about getting sick at how awful this movie looks right out the gate.

Spider-man actually has a pretty sad story. Parents die, father-figure uncle dies (and its partially his fault so he blames himself), someone else very close to him dies (he blames himself for this one also), and most of the city hates him because the media makes him out to be evil.

He's got more of a reason to be emo than Batman.

He is a funny guy though and jokes all the time, just because we didn't see it in the preview doesn't mean it's not there.

Saw the trailer. Cautiously hopeful about this movie. Toby never really sold me as a good Peter Parker, but the glimpses of this kid look a lot better than that. Plus a return to a nerdier high school centrice Peter (one that designs his own web slinging devices) is a welcome change.

This one is supposed to be focused more on the Ultimate Spiderman versus the regular continuity one. It explains some of the changes in origin and age.
