I used to collect all sorts of dumb things as a kid. Probably the coolest thing I had was

I wish they still made them, even though they're a total choking hazard lol.

This isn't about collecting for the sake of collecting, if that makes sense.

Since this is the lounge, I will go ahead and say it.

When my parents would fight a lot and when my dad was in the hospital for leukemia, Polly Pocket was my escape (as was catching frogs and snakes). Yeah it may sound lame, but i would get super wrapped up in this Polly Pocket world and lose myself in it. Then when my parents went through their terrible divorce it helped even more with all the craziness going on around me. Soon after the divorce began, we were forced to sell a lot of our stuff. I had to sell almost all of my toys in a yard sale and all of my Polly Pockets were sold. I guess I repressed it for a long time because I tried not to think about them a lot until recently when I saw a picture of one of the sets, and all the memories came flooding back.

Yes, I know it's only a toy and it's only plastic. And yeah it probably seems weird that I'm 24 and am excited to get my Polly Pocket package in the mail. But ya know what? I had a rough childhood full of heartache, and this is one of the few things I remember bringing me happiness and peace of mind. I can't tell if this thread was made with the intent of being mean or just for starting conversation, but either way I don't care if people think it's strange.

FTR, i won the auction and I'm super excited about it.

Yes. Mighty Max. I had a ton of them.

I also had a ton of Micro Machines play sets too.

hours upon hours of my life... just playing with little plastic toys. And nowadays, you kids with your newfangled Calling Duty: Modern Warcraft... no respect.

I had books and books of paper dolls-- I was obsessed. I also had like every my little pony and plenty of Barbies.

I had one rule, Barbies were not allowed to ride my little ponies, they belonged to two different universes so barbie cant ride my little ponies, she could only ride regular toy horses it made a lot of sense in my little head.

i have tupperware boxes full of GI Joes. I played with all of them, so they're unboxed. But I always cut out every dossier, proof of purchase, and kept all of the guns, accessories, and stands. Each one is wrapped in it's own plastic sandwich bag. I've debated giving them to my nephew, but the selfish child in me says no way in hell.

Breyer Horses and Playmobil. And I still have all of them.

...I'm pretty sure I could just take out my Tupperware tubs and start playing with my Playmobil in a heartbeat. I kinda miss it.

there was nothing better than sending a small troop of Joes up Couch Mountain to take down Destro and his plans to conquer the living room.

I still have my My Little Ponies, they chill out on a bookshelf with my stuffed animals. Being a horse obsessed little girl, I had a lot more, but kept my favorites when I went to college. They went through too many moves to count.

I even practiced my braiding for horse shows on the toy ponies, so I wouldn't subject the real ones to total crap. Never got into the Breyer models though- too expensive.

Have a ton of old Magic The Gathering cards, all the Final Fantasies. In college I had a beer shelf with 250+ different beers w/ caps bit they were destroyed when that chick ran into my house.

My main thing is collecting NCSU memorabilia. For example autographed Thompson and rivers jerseys, and a game worn autographed Holt jersey. Tons of stuff.

I had a closet full of Star Wars toys, figurines, and collectibles from the original trilogy, and another closet full of Toy Story items from when the first movie came out.

I wasn't allowed to play with hardly any of it..
