I'm building a gaming rig and have purchased the following:
XFX HD-687A-ZDFC Radeon HD 6870 Intel i5 2400 LGA1155 Case - Antec Nine Hundred Two V3 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129097
I'm trying to decide on a mobo. I've had mixed results with MSI and pretty good experience with Gigabyte. What are the real differences between Z68 and P67 chipsets? Any recommendations on mobos?
I was thinking about one of these: http://tinyurl.com/438hpcx
My case has 4 fans with an optional 5th so I'm trying to find a board with 5 fan connectors but not having much luck. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated. I'm trying to stay under $180.

toms hardware did a whole thing on this but their internal search is so shitty I couldn't find it.
the Z68 express was supposed to be the best of both I think

So from reading that article, the Z68 express chipset is clearly the better choice. Thanks for posting that.

There's subtle differences between the P and the Z chipsets. Think of the Z68 as the P67+. If you are going to get a new mobo, makes more sense to invest in the Z chipset but the P's will work just fine. 7/30/2011 6:19:03 AM |

You don't need to have 5 fan connectors on the mother board unless you want feedback and fan control for ALL of them. 7/30/2011 10:13:21 AM |
