Women's Soccer starts tonight at 7pm with the Red/White Game. Men start Tuesday night at 7pm with an exhibition game vs UNCG.

Stadium is looking really nice.



Student seating is the lawn/hill seating and there are stands behind each goal.

I thought I heard/read that they would mix chairback and bleacher seating in the main stands, but I'm not sure.

White team won 2-1. It appeared that the white team was most of our starters from last year and could be our starting lineup this year. The stadium looks amazing, but there are a few things left to do including the main entrance way. The grandstand area looks finished with the 5 sets of chair back seats and the other 3 sections are plastic bleacher seats similar to the bleachers at Wake Med. It's hard to see from the pic, but the bleacher seats are also red. There is great leg room in the chairback seats. They were still putting the bleachers together behind the goals, but they should be ready for the men's exhibition game on Tuesday.

The first SWPC meeting is Wednesday night at 8pm on Harris field with sign ups at 7pm. I'm not sure if the women's game vs VCU will be an event or not. It's not on the calendar yet.

Apparently there is not a full-time announcer for the men's soccer games, so if anyone wants to try and be the PA announcer or knows of someone who would, I'd say send an email to athletics or marketing.

Yeah i was at the women's game and the stadium is sickkkkk. The ad boards around the field really add something to me. Can't wait to watch the guys play Tuesday.

Just FYI: Former player Kris Byrd plays for UNCG. He graduated from State with eligibility left and is getting a graduate degree at UNCG.

wolfdawg4: White is the projected starters but only five are returners, the rest are freshman and one transfer. 1 senior up front and three in the back including goalie, one sophomore in the back line the rest freshman.

Got it. I knew with Kim in goal for white and Alex and Paige on the back line that that would very likely be our starting back line. Then with Tanya up front as one of the strikers, I figured it would be our starting lineup. Looking forward to the season both women and men.

Ended 0-0, but State had some chances in the 2nd half. Didn't really do anything in the 1st. UNCG had a couple of shots that hit the post. Couple of yellow cards and a half-a-head butt by a player for UNCG. I think UNCG is picked to win the SoCon, so overall a decent game for an exhibition. The men travel to Davidson on Saturday for the 2nd exhibition game.

First couple of games usually are well attended. It was a great crowd of students too. It was easier to get them to cheer when we started attacking, but that's how it goes.

FYI:

I'll be out there with a few other people selling throwback NC State soccer jerseys. These are the old game-worn jerseys (both women and men). I'm pretty sure Athletics is selling them each for $30. Some of them are pretty sweet too. Just thought I'd let you guys know.

We need to think of better soccer themed chants for our team. It's the same old stuff, and it doesn't work very well for soccer. Soccer needs songs and chants, not "let's go wolfpack" cheers.

Whoever is in charge of the Student Wolfpack Club needs to help out with this. Go to a Railhawks game, sit in section 309, and experience actual soccer cheering. This may inspire better soccer chants for us.
