It's been known for awhile now Progress Energy would be downsizing in Raleigh. I'm not surprised by those numbers at all.

Finish the article troll!

lol, there's no way we're hiring 1000 more people. I think we promised 500 in Wake County, and I can only imagine that will be over a 10 year period.

^ I think they're just talking about the workforce moving to downtown, not that there would be 1000 jobs in addition to the ones moving.

Alright, the last I'll say here, MAYBE, is that I wish I'd moved into one of those $750,000 condos downtown. Downtown Raleigh. 750, folks.

Yeah, because those surely make up the lion's share of the market. Those multi-million dollar homes in Cary are most of the real estate market in Cary too.

^ quite a significant example of why downtown Raleigh cannot have nice things. I was going to post that, because it's so funny how a food truck is apparently a big deal; enough to warrant restraints keeping them out of the area.

Something you have in common with Chapel Hill, I guess...

I hadn't heard Chapel Hill restricts food trucks.

I do think it's ridiculous how you have a few council members with a stick up their ass over this issue. In particular the objections Thomas Crowder has are downright retarded. I kind of wish I lived in that district just so I could campaign against him

Amazing the difference in downtown Durham, which essentially survives off food trucks, and Raleigh, which views them as creatures of satan

Not a fan of Durham in general, but I love me some OnlyBurger

Chipotle looks like it will be this month. I drove past today and they had the menus up over the register. It looks like they just have finishing touches left.

I guess Chuck's is open now. Still haven't seen a menu. Would love to see the cocktail menu at Fox's as well.

Chuck's was open on Thursday without a menu; Ashley was the only server, and if you bought a drink she brought out a random burger for free. Starting Friday they were open with a regular menu.

there's a partial menu... can't find a picture of the whole thing. there are like 7 or 8 different burgers. I've had the Spirit Animal twice, which has cream cheese, poblano peppers, some type of tomatoes, and tortilla crumble. fucking delicious. it's not cheap though (cue the whining) - $9 burgers, $4 for fries (which come with some great dipping sauces). The Carolina Burger (Dirty South) looks amazing.

they also have Aviator root beer on tap, which is amazing.

^ I had the bear in heaven, gf had the dirty south. Both are awesome, but charging $1 each for sauce irked me a bit.

^^^ How do the burgers compare to Tribeca Tavern? Those burger prices seem reasonable when compared to other places with high end burgers.

if hipsters are the only ones who'll bother to live/eat/drink downtown, then the new places are going to be hipster joints.

just how it is.

I took the segway tour through downtown yesterday. had a groupon that was going to expire soon.

I HIGHLY recommend it. In addition to segways being cool, the tour guides were great and they talked about/showed a lot of the projects going on that you guys are talking about here.

I'm excited for downtown Raleigh's future

Oh look, another idiot that can't differientiate food culture from popular culture. They're not mutually exclusive.

The insinuation that people other than hipsters or foodies can't enjoy gourmet food in a trendy location at all is beyond me. BUILD MORE MCDONALDS'!

Random question, but what time can bands play at the Raleigh ampitheater? I thought it was 11pm, but it might be 10. Anybody know?
