Looking back, there was some good talent on that '98 team. Holt, Barnett, Ray Robinson on offense. The secondary and LBs had talent...don't remember much about the O and D lines though.

^^They were awful. The lines were always undersized. We had speed and that's about it. Also, we ran a lot of terrible prevent defensive patterns that constantly got us burned, despite our DB speed.

O'Cain's teams were always undersized, we always had terrible play calling, and his recruiting was glaringly bad once the Sheridan classes were gone.

that was not the first one with massive police presence. it was there every year. and actually, 1999 was the last "good" brent road party. in 2000, it was curbed considerably and there were more cops than students

Yeah, he was actually a really nice guy the few times I met him too. I was a manager at Adventure Landing and he came in one night a little before closing with a few friends. They asked if we could leave the games on for a few minutes and I said why not. It had been a slow day and they were spending money.

They were cool about not getting in the way while we cleaned things up and when they saw we were ready to go they quit playing, said thanks to everyone and left. I got to talk to him a little and he was excited about the draft that was a few days away. Apparently he thought we were nice enough to his friends that night that he came back about a week after the draft with a few autographed footballs for the staff and told us how much fun they had the week before. It really is sad that alcohol and injury pretty much ruined his pro career.
