Cincy = 48
State = 31

Glennon will put up big numbers again, but State's lack of a defensive line will allow the Bearcats to rape us repeatedly with big plays. Archer will not change a thing and we will continue to suck dick putting zero pressure on the QB. An embarrassing loss on national TV.

I will be there, and I will be angry when we miss tackles, put no pressure on the QB and allow >400 yards rushing.

Any word on Manning? Heard he went out in the USA game, but some thought it was just back spasms.

It's sad to me that we all know that we're going to get butt-raped on defense, and we also know Archer isn't going to do a GD thing about it. When we go 4-8 (if we're lucky), TOB better fire Archer's ass, or he needs to start packing his shit with them.

You know we had one of the top defenses (at least against the run) in the nation last year, right? Why is everyone on Archer's nuts? we're also missing like 1/4 of our starting defense. Archer is doing the best he can with the players on our team who don't have broken feet.

Give him a break.

Rieskamp's going to be back, right? He's been "questionable" the last two games.

When is Sweezy, Teal, and Mustafa coming back?

I don't mind the zone coverage. Sure, it looks bad and gets exposed when you don't pressure the QB and give him all day to sit back and make throws. But man coverage is too dangerous. All it takes is one mistake and you get burned for a long TD. At least in zone, your teammates can cover you and help out if you're out of position.

We need out D-linemen back badly.

Well, the problem is that we don't have our dline right now and without it we aren't getting any pressure on the QB. Archer needs to adapt, that's all I'm asking. Try running some different base sets, different blitzing patterns, maybe throw in some man or switch to it entirely. We just need to try and confuse the offense a little. If all we do is "stick to our guns" as we get raped up and down the field then that is just beyond idiotic. To me it comes across as lazy to me.

^^^^ that is a must (to change schemes)

just go and watch some game film. most qb's are going to just watch the tape and see when our zone transitions occur and pick it apart like mad when in that 'zone transition' split second.

it was really funny seeing them go 5 wideouts on us all those times (south alabama)

we were trying to zone that, AND rush the qb with 5. almost laughable seeing 2 receivers wide open on those plays on our 5 on 5 'zone'

if mike archer is gone after this year...frank spaziani will be our DC next year (assuming he gets fired from BC..definitely on that path)

the bad news is:
"Derek Wolfe, DT, Cincinnati. Had two sacks and forced a fumble that was returned 54 yards for a touchdown in a 59-14 win against Akron."

the other bad news is:

"Cincinnati defense. Cincinnati keeps creating the turnovers in a big way. In their 59-14 win over Akron, the Bearcats became the first Big East team to score three defensive touchdowns since Miami scored on two interceptions and one fumble against West Virginia in a 41-10 victory on Sept. 23, 2000. The Bearcats' six forced turnovers are the most since forcing seven against Oregon State on Sept. 6, 2007. "

i'm not buying it. i say we expose their D to be about as bad as ours is. they haven't played a real team yet.

Tennessee hung 45 on them...almost doubled the score (45-23). Just looking at the boxscore, Cincy recovered 2 fumbles that game and 0 interceptions. Gave up over 500 yards. I haven't seen Cincy play this year, but just looking at that game, I'm not sold on their D being that great.

It's not that simple. Assuming Archer is keeping us in zone because he knows we don't have the speed back there to run man to man, there's not a lot you can do without leaving gaping holes somewhere else.

you rush more guys, you thin out an already shaky secondary.

You rush fewer guys, you get even less eventual pressure on the QB

you play with the zones, you only force your defensive backs to learn more zone coverages, but you don't really solve any problems without pressure on the QB.

you back off some, they throw underneath all day

you try to play them up, one of them burns you for an 80 yard touchdown pass

Just throwing defensive schemes out there doesn't help our guys get better at the defense we're trying to run.

What we need are our players back. Until we get them, we just have to do our best to limit their big plays, and make them really work for the scores they get. Until then we're just going to have to suck it up.

LOL. This season has gone downhill so fast it is like watching the luge.

Quote :

Tennessee does not count as a real team apparently. Also UT has a superior offense to us so do not expect us to put up 500 yards.

This is going to be a bad game. Maybe not as bad as USF a few years back, but Cincy will score at will. Big East revenge on shitty old NC State.

Shiiiit. Coming into the season, I thought we we had about an average number of injuries. Now it's starting to get a little ridiculous, it seems they're all happening to key players.
