Lets get a league going. I know its a lot of soccer fans that like to talk british on forums and EA are really doing their best work with these games.

^ From playing the demo I thought there were some really nice changes.

The biggest being that the defenders don't lock on to the man with the ball. It's much more difficult to make a shoulder tackle, and you can't simply steer into the attacker when the attacker has a couple of steps. Also, on crosses the user has to judge the flight of the ball instead of the AI semi-locking onto it....

The field of play seems to be a whole lot more "open". Which allows some more space to take defenders on.

Throw-ins don't always go to a screen cut... if you have someone near the ball they will quickly grab it and be ready to start again (kind of like the change they made to free kicks recently). Doesn't sound like a huge issue but it makes throw-ins a lot easier.

Defense is a huge difference. I love that people won't be able to just sprint and hold the tackle button.

A league would be fun but there are like two ps3 players other than me.

This may be the game where I finally try to switch to all manual controls. The demo was frustrating me with oddly placed through balls and crosses that don't go where I want them. I am leaving shot assistance on. It's way too hard to put it in the net when you finally have a chance to strike.

I do want to form a tww league if there are enough PS3 people out there. We'd play round robin style against one another with the usual 3 points for a win, 1 for draw, 0 for loss. I figure we can each claim one team so no one uses the same squads. Sound off if you want to join.

Superior gamers play 360 anyways. The tackling in this game is way better aka you can't play defense solely by holding b and a and ocassionally the left trigger. Also the momentum shit fucking RULES. Did they take out the lounge mode? its not in the early release version thing that you can download now.

This game is awesome. Really have to work on D now, but the new controls help. Seems you have to hold down buttons longer to really get some velocity on kicks.

Not sure if it was in FIFA 11, but you can turn on handball calls. Already had 3 called in 3 games played with 1 leading to a PK.

Love this game, so much more free flowing than '11. yeah, it took me forever to find the head to head on Xbox live, I think it was in the 'other' category. But it wouldn't let me play a ranked match...? So, I started my ultimate team.

Looking at Spurs for league team. Any restrictions? No 5*s, No national teams?

I think it's the first option, head to head seasons. You level up by earning promotion points over a certain number of games.

I've only played two games, both with Arsenal. First was a blah 1-1 tie away at Newcastle. Second game was home to Liverpool and I scored on a header 7 minutes in. Liverpool then went on to systematically rip me apart for the next 83 minutes and I lost 3-1.

It's a lot harder and I like the ball dynamics better on set pieces...

This game pisses me off like no other. I hate, hate, hate the people who watch every replay, every time. They double the time of online games.

I didn't think you could do that for ranked matches in any edition.

You probably can do it in a custom unranked games.

We always rannked played with a guest in '11. I tried custom game too, but you can't toggle the unranked/ranked oh well, I think we are going to give Ultimate Team a shot since can you can have a guest on that.

god i hate this game. it's more realistic i guess, but way less fun to play. god help you if you lose the ball, b/c your guy gets transported 10' away from it and starts running in circles. that's how it feels at least.

the thing that gets me is that the guys seem like they're not doing what i'm telling them to. it's a really strange feeling in a video game. granted, i'm terrible at fifa 11, but i still feel like the guys do what they want.

That's what great about the game. You can't regain possession quickly.

Old FIFA iterations just had defenders running at you full-speed, homing in directly on the ball.

Now it's all about containing and trying to force a bad pass. There's a big risk/reward for using either tackle. If you miss, the opponent is going to just roll right passed you. It mimics real soccer a lot better this way. I think it's just an adjustment period needed. You'll get used to the movements and want to take me on again online.

i don't know if i'll ever play this game again. i tried to just play the computer last night and turned it off after one half b/c it just wasn't fun. we'll see. when video games turn into work is when i stop playing them, although i might stick it out for a while b/c if i stop playing fifa then i might as well sell my ps3... and for some reason i don't want to do that, even though i probably should.
