I usually wait til I go home to get one, but this shit is driving me crazy. Suggestions on the best place to go near campus? 9/29/2011 8:01:19 PM |

People are going to tell you Man-Mur, but there is only like one guy in there that won't fuck up your head.
I go to Professional Barbers in Cary and neither of those two have ever given me a bad haircut. 9/29/2011 8:10:20 PM |

I've gotten my haircut there since freshman orientation and have never gotten a bad cut 9/29/2011 8:10:35 PM |

Manmur is good for pretending to be in the military.
I went to the professional barbershop when I was in Raleigh the most. I also had good experiences and esquire, 5 points barber shop, and some place downtown that I currently can't think of the name. 9/29/2011 8:54:51 PM |

Man-Mur does it well.
So does the barbershop near the Bell Tower, though it has a certain "atmosphere" to it. 9/29/2011 9:41:36 PM |

I've did Esquire on Hillsborough St. back in undergrad because of its convenience, and because seemed like a small step up from a great clips without being expensive. Don't know if its still that way, but I liked it back then.

When you get married / old and you don't care what people think of your hair anymore you just do that junk yourself. Go out on the deck with the 1 guard on and buzz the whole thing, then ask the wife if I missed any spots.
I've been to both Man Mur and Esquire and like Esquire better. Went there several times actually and they always did a good job. Also The Barbershop near Crossroads (kind of behind Lowe's next to Moe's) is really good, but it's a few minutes drive from campus. $11 for everything and the few times I've gone there I have been happy with the results. 9/29/2011 10:38:51 PM |

^ yep. Gotta love the hot lather and straight razor. I go to this place in Apex and they do it as well http://www.mensextra.com/
And has Man Mur learned how to sweep up the hair right after cutting it yet or is it still extremely dangerous to walk around in there? 9/29/2011 11:06:54 PM |

Be careful, many have walked out of there having been Man-Mur-dered. They pretty much have 1 option and thats high and tight. 9/30/2011 7:44:31 AM |

I used to go somewhere in Cary, years ago. Now, I just let my boyfriend cut my hair. Free, and it's good enough. 9/30/2011 8:23:49 AM |

I'd say more than a small step up. It's not a trendy salon, but they take the time to do a good job, rather than rushing you in and out. I always ask for Ron when I go there. 9/30/2011 8:24:46 AM |

I took a razor to my head about two weeks after I got married
Much better than just using a 1 guard because you don't have to worry about missing a spot and it feels so good after you shave it.9/30/2011 9:03:45 AM |

I too cut my own hair...with my dog clippers and the shortest guard I have for the sides and the next one up from the top. You can make damn near anything decent with hair goo with the exception of too short.
That said, I did stop by the folks' house last time and get my mom to touch it up. She's pretty good and used to cut it all the time when I was a kid (cuz we were poor and shit).
Lately, I have been looking for some place other than Man-Mur and myself to get my hair cut. I find that the wimmens are a little more critical of my haircut than I am. This thread is relevant to my interests. 9/30/2011 9:15:32 AM |

I go to Alter Ego down by Moore Square. Ask for Kegan. I'm reaaaallllly picky about my hair and he does well. I'm also a chick, though, so I don't know how he does with man hair 9/30/2011 12:00:27 PM |

Man-Mur never gave me any trouble. If you're looking for something fancier, there's the place next to Player's Retreat. I know is named after two dudes but I am far too lazy to look it up. 10/1/2011 12:22:16 AM |
