My camcorder must have overrun the card capacity and made a mess or perhaps run out of battery. I've done this before and the card has always been readable. This time though, it doesn't show up in windows.

If I put the card in my phone, the built-in file manager shows that the files are obviously there.

I've tried testdisk/photorec with no luck. Any other free suggestions?

Mount the card in your phone as USB storage perhaps?

What caused the problem is unclear to me. Did you run out of battery in the middle of recording or what?

Did you run out of space?

Try recording for 2 seconds and stop recording. This should write information to the tables, if there are tables.

That software doesn't work if it can't find the filesystem. I've tried about a dozen pieces of software. My old standards run off a boot cd, so they can't work with usb thumbdrives.

The fat tables can't be damaged that badly since my phone uses them just fine.

Trying ZAR now.

ZAR didn't work.

But I fixed it another way.
