This is the new Kevin Smith film. It is on Netflix Watch Instantly.

Anyone seen it?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJ1v6oFHefc

It's not very well made and is occasionally pretty annoying but it has its moments I guess.

The ending is directly stolen from a recent movie that I won't name because it'd be a spoiler. It's pretty insane. It's like Kevin Smith saw ____ _____ _______ and said, "Yep, I like that, gonna put it in my movie."

Discuss?

I thought it was well acted, especially by Parks, even if the story wasn't that strong. I think I would like it with more viewings perhaps.

I heard him promoting this on the radio- I thought it was interesting that the only marketing for the film was him going around and talking it up

I'll have to check it out

Rephrase: really it was okay. It just wasn't scary at all. In fact it kind of reminded me a gentler version of "Devil's Rejects".

Yeah I'm very confused by it being called a horror film.

My thoughts exactly. Too many "fucks" by the kids early in the movie. And that rat-tail by the one kid was absolutely ridiculous...but then I remember Kevin Smith made the movie.

And maybe I missed the movie, but refresh me on the one it copied at the end??

The ending that Kevin Smith talked about on one of his SMODcasts would have been freakin awesome... i have no clue why he didn't go with that one.

As for my thoughts on the movie, I thought it was ok. Nothing special, but not a chore to sit through. John Goodman and the guy that played Abin Cooper carried it on their backs.

This movie was a steaming pile of shit, and well below Kevin Smith's potential. I was hoping there would be a thread for it somewhere for me to share my elaborate opinion.

What a terrible piece of shit. Stick to the stupid stoner comedies, Kevin Smith.

I know that sounds condescending, but I enjoyed Clerks/Mallrats/Chasing Amy/Dogma.

This was just bad. It felt like he was trying to combine Tarantino and the Coen Brothers, but the result was unfocused trash with a laughable ending.

I thought this movie was pretty interesting in that it proved to be very hard to predict.

The horror aspect really didn't do it for me though, however....

********* SPOILERS *****************

I feel like the scene with the trumpets close to the end could have been a whole lot cooler than it actually was. I was a little disappointed to find out that all of that was just a prank. I think it would have been a lot more intriguing had the trumpets been real and the opportunity could have presented itself for a much more interesting scene.

*********** END SPOILER

There were many scenes with pretty good dialogue as I would expect. The movie definitely felt like it was a first for Smith in terms of approach since he usually goes comedies, but I think there is a lot of potential for refinement.

I'm not whining, it's just really bizarre how spot-on it is.

What the fuck are you even saying

it sounded like whining based on wording and the way it was presented. i made that note, then basically said that i dont hold that against a film.

[Edited on November 1, 2011 at 9:20 AM. Reason : at minimum sounded like u were trying to be condescending. ]
