I've got an older model rwd 960-and the door handle won't engage to open the door from the outside anymore. It's like the latch won't hold any tension.

Anywho- so there I was, in my driveway, with the door panel holding on by little spinal electrical cords. I thought I could take the door panel off and just see a latch rod thing or something hanging down- BUT NOOOOOOOOOO.

Question: Anyone know what the inside of a 960 door looks like? Google searches, forum memberships, and youtube searches don't help me anymore (but brickboard.com is somewhat helpful). I'm trying to figure out exactly what the parts look like and where they're located.

Any help? Thanks. Trying to fix this before husband comes home tomorrow.

I had that sort of problem on my Mark VIII. Turns out the door handle itself had broken. Serious pain in the ass to replace. Is your problem that you can't get the inner door panel clear to see into the mechanics of the door? Or that you look at it and you're not sure what you're seeing?

couldnt see the door mechanics because it was welded... i decided to get a new lever that goes inside handle. will take pics... thanks
