Quote :
"Cuba announced Thursday it will allow real estate to be bought and sold for the first time since the early days of the revolution, the most important reform yet in a series of free-market changes under President Raul Castro.

The law, which takes effect Nov. 10, applies to citizens living in Cuba and permanent residents only, according to a red-letter headline on the front page of Thursday's Communist Party daily Granma and details published in the government's Official Gazette."

Another socialist paradise down. Every country that tries to implement socialism or communism comes to same conclusion: without protection of private property rights, you can't have properly functioning markets. Capitalism is the only way out of poverty. I can hear it now: "B-b-b-but what about privilege, it's just not fair!"

Maybe the embargo will be ended soon. I don't think Obama has the balls to do it.

I don't know anyone who still favors central planning.

And most democratic socialists have never favored such a thing and favored the Scandinavian model, which we're apparently still confused about.

So I'm not sure who you think you're talking about, aside from the last 3 non-revisionist Marxists out there.

Don't forget Kris, he's our resident pro-Cuban central planning communist.

while i understand what you are saying, as a relatively out of touch (especially on foreign issues) voting public who, for the most part, are only a decade into the post-cold war mentality of the last 50-60 years prior, i dont know that it's all that surprising. i expect the generation currently growing up post-9/11 to have a much better grasp on the concepts.

If he did it, it will only be after the election. FL is too key for him to risk anything.

I doubt we'll see it until the Castros are dead.

Mr. Castro, tear down this wall...

...and let the cigars come in!
