When do you get this? I'm pretty sure it's your DOS but is there any way to get it sooner while on terminal? My DOS is 4 Jan and I'm going to need it ASAP to get my BAH stipend for my GI Bill. 11/7/2011 12:20:18 PM |

you should ask your personnel person for a "certified to be true copy". They cant give you the originals til you actually separate. 11/7/2011 12:22:05 PM |

Would my squadron even have access to it? I would always under the impression that DD214s were only given up by the major personnel centers (AFPC in CO for my case)...doesn't hurt to ask tomorrow though, thanks 11/7/2011 12:25:35 PM |

not sure how other branches work.... in my job i make DD214s. our supervisor would sign them and we sit on them to make sure the member actually separates. there have been cases where a member will take almost all their terminal leave and then decide they want to come back in. 11/7/2011 12:36:14 PM |

I got mine the same time they took my ID card, out-processing the day I left my ship at the end of my obligated service. Instead of displaying my military ID, I had to show my DD214 to leave. I left with 30+ days of terminal leave.

They will mail you the original at the adress you provided when you separated. In the meantime, a copy of your separation orders should work. It did for me at least. 11/8/2011 11:22:01 PM |

I got mine the day I signed it... The last day of my enlistment... I had to come back after my terminal for one day to turn in my dental record, sign my DD214, and drink heavily...
