My list:
Samsung Galaxy Nexus (hopefully 11/21)
Asus Transformer Prime (more info on release 11/9)... possibly a BF item, but doubt it.
24"-27" gaming 1080p LCD monitor (might jump on the newegg shell shocker today)

laptops/tablets/hdtvs... those are about the only items worth waiting in line for.

other than that it's a good day for dvds & clothing sales.... electronics though are typically onsale online the entire week leading up to Black Friday & Cyber Monday, so no real reason to go to the stores.

This will be a good place to put the upcoming circulars, but my Black Friday shopping usually consists of getting on Amazon and clicking a couple buttons.

check office depot for laptops, picked up a nice one last year for 270, and the line wasn't that long either.

Possibly getting a laptop on Black Friday depending on the deals. However, I just found this Toshiba laptop on sale now at Best Buy til Nov. 19.

Toshiba laptop with AMD Dual-Core E-300 Accelerated Processor, 15.6" screen, 4GB DDR3 memory, 320GB hard drive, windows 7 for $269.99. What do you guys think?

I'm in need of a 2nd tv...hoping some online deal is worthwhile so I don't have to get my ass up bright and early.

None of those deals seem all the great but my eyes do tend to glaze over when looking at a list like that. I see the PS3 is dropping in price at least.

I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that most of the deals to be had for electronics were nearly always the result of manufacturers making a new, Black Friday specific model which included guts that were vastly inferior to their normal models. The models disappear after BF, never to be seen again. You think you are getting some great deal, but it turns out it's a piece of crap that breaks after a while.

Feel free to correct if I'm wrong. Maybe it's just their way of clearing out the old model because they have a new, better model and the old model is no longer selling.

^ I have heard of that happening with things like no name brand TVs and cameras, but I doubt you'd find that with a gaming system.

No, certainly not with things like PS3s, iPods, etc. but they definitely did it when HDTVs were new and expensive and the same thing happened with BluRay players. Just something to be mindful of.

the processor is only 1.3 GHz but if you are ok with that then it looks like a fine system for general computing

for $30 more you can get the Dell computer with the same specs but 2.3 GHz processor.

I swear, I bought a laptop 4 years ago on Black Friday for $350 and the specs over the last 4 years have barely changed for budget laptops, same 15.6", same 320GB HDD, I maybe got 2GB instead of 4GB, IGP, and a CPU that sucks.

I will be keeping my eye out for any video card deals from Newegg and maybe snagging a few more parts along the way. Otherwise, there isn't much that I am really looking for. I will likely go to Target/Best Buy to see what dvds they have on sale though.

I went ahead and got it. I needed one for just basic stuff like surfing, word processing, etc. I hardly play any games on my computer. I love it so far.

$250 for the Asus Transformer is tempting... although the likelyhood of me being the first 10 in line is slim at BestBuy with a midnight opening.

I wish the new Asus Transformer Primes were lower in price... I just can't justify twice the price for the Tegra 3 over the Tegra 2 even though I really want the Prime....

I was under the impression that Apple products didn't go on sale. At least until a new model was out and you could buy the old one for like 10% off.

^Well pretty much everything but doorbusters, yes. The Sharp 42" and the Asus Transformer tablet deals are pretty hot.

What sucks are all these special models they come out with every year for BF, like removing inputs and removing features like no HDMI, etc... still good deals, just not great.

I worked BF for an elctronics retailer from 2003-2009. I can tell you they already have the stock in their stores, in the back. None of the TVs are sold year round. MOST will never be placed on display.

However, very FEW will be returned. They are solid products. Its amazing that manufacturers will build product for just ONE DAY, however they know they will sell.

and to anyone working on BF, I hope you have a great day. Seriously! I can't imagine having to be at one of the midnight opening places though. I never did earlier than a 5am start (or maybe 4am, who knows.)

When I worked retail I always volunteered to work Christmas Eve so I wouldn't get stuck working Black Friday. As a student, working Christmas Eve at the mall was great. We opened at 10am, were closed by 6pm, and you could literally talk people into buying anything because they were desperate for presents. And it was never as busy as you would imagine Christmas Eve in the mall would be even though lots of stores have better sales that day than they do on Black Friday.

They actually have a great system.

You line up, they go down the line with vouchers and ask you what you are in line for, give you a paper with that item on it that correlates to an actual item and you go in, give them the paper and get the item.

At this point, are there items that you actually need to go to Toys R Us for, rather than just get it on Amazon? Maybe just an incredible deal that's worth the stress of BF?

I bought a TV a few years ago at a BF sale and that was about the most I could handle.

Yeah, this makes me sad a little. Because we have become so obsessed with getting a deal on things, workers get caught in the middle and get forced to miss out on time with their family so some asshole can get a cheap TV or toy.
