the attack started while i was laying on my left side. i dont think there was anything that was gonna stop that thing. but i'll try it on the floor or something if it happens again, which it shouldnt because im having it removed asap
backstory: i had heartburn issues in spring 2009 and went to a GI about it, told me i had gallstones and needed my gallbladder removed, so i just changed my diet/eating habits and eventually my heartburn went away... but it looks like my gallbladder isnt done giving me troubles

i was sitting up when mine started, i had no idea what was going on, it was christmas day about 2 years ago. i went to the bathroom and laid down on the floor and cried, it was 15 minutes before someone decided to check on me. my grandma wanted to call 911, but mom walked in and told me to lay on my left side. i couldnt think straight and continued to roll around on the floor. she got me a pillow and eventually convinced me to lay on my left side and it gradually went away. 11/10/2011 7:44:28 PM |

Update:
Was supposed to fly out this am to present at a conference on Sunday. I was still planning on going even tho the doc at the urgent care told me travel was a bad idea... at about 2a started having headache and nausea so I decided not to go. got a text message from a friend at 7:30a telling me that he had a nightmare that I died in a plane crash.
glad I didn't go. I'd have lost my mind if I got that while I was sitting in the airport. freaky! 11/12/2011 11:46:26 AM |

a cyst on an ovary bursting is pretty painful...like someone stabbed you in the ovary with a butchers knife and twists it around for about 10 mins...then it's gone 11/12/2011 11:48:38 AM |

Why haven't you had yours out? I know they don't want to take it out just for the hell of it, but from what I understand if you're predisposed to gallbladder issues you're pretty much guaranteed to have it taken out at some point. And if you've had attacks already it seems like they'd just go ahead and take it out.11/12/2011 1:26:46 PM |

I had a kidney stone in HS a few days after I had broken my jaw after being hit by a comebacker while pitching a game in baseball. My mouth was wired together from the jaw surgery. The kidney stone hurt so much I vomited. They didnt want to cut the wires because my jaw hadnt healed yet... so yeah, fun 3 hours of drip drip 11/15/2011 8:28:04 PM |

I just got health insurance for the first time in about 4 years, and I was putting it off for obvious reasons. I actually asked them to take it out in 2006 when my appendix ruptured but they said insurance wouldn't cover it.11/15/2011 10:00:19 PM |

my GI told me to have mine out in 2009 because I had gallstones. My symptom was that I was having crazy heartburn everyday so I just changed my diet/exercise so that I wouldnt have heartburn and eventually it went away, so I never got my gallbladder out.
also, not having insurance and other reasons (like not wanting to lose an organ) are all good reasons 11/15/2011 10:43:03 PM |

My wife had an attack about two months ago (almost right after I was done with my spinal fusion surgery). She didn't know what it was, and it scared the crap out of her.
A month ago, she started going to a chiropractor, and he took some X-rays to check out her spine.
He found a "mass" of something textured and wanted to know more.
She had an ultrasound last Friday that confirmed that 1) she has gallstones, 2) her gallbladder is not infected, 3) other than that, she is one of the most healthy people they have seen.
She went to her primary care physician today for a "what now" visit. The doc told her the GB has to come out "as soon as possible." As soon as they schedule it, that is.
Then I started looking online about the surgery, and (compared to a spinal fusion) it looks pretty uneventful.
Then I started looking into kidney stones and who is most susceptible, causes, etc.
Yeah...I'm surprised I haven't had any. I'm always dehydrated and can go days without drinking anything but Mt. Dew. Example: I haven't had one in two days and have had a headache since yesterday.
I'm starting to drink Green Tea (another thread), and think I'm going to ramp up my water consumption.
Anyway...bttt. 2/27/2012 4:29:32 PM |
