anyone have any opinions they would like to share? the only ride i've ever owned is a shitty hand me down rosignol so i don't know much about boards. Obviously i've been reading, but opinions are always welcome before any money is spent.

i'm 5'10, 185 lbs....looking for something a little short i can carve up the mountain with...was thinking something between 150 and 155 cm. Anyone have thoughts/opinions?

Thanks

I would reccomend one of the SSX games for ps2. In my opinion, the best boarding game of all time.

i'll throw you a bone mfizzle
if you are in raleigh go to vertical urge on six forks. they can answer any questions you have, all the shop guys ride, and i believe new boards are 20% off now.
i personally just got a forum scallywag and can't wait to hit the mountain. put more into your boots and bindings than your board and you'll be good to go

if you go to vertical urge ask about what they have left over from the 2010 and 2011 model years. i think last year's stuff is like 40% off and two years ago is discounted even more. it's definitely the best way to get high end stuff on a low-mid end budget.

step 1. try on every pair of boots in the store in your size. walk around, do lunges etc. buy the ones that fit best regardless of price. do not buy boots online unless you've tried them on first. remember, you will be wearing your boots for 6+ hours a day every time you board so fit and comfort is key. ideally your toes should be touching the end of the boot. IMO boots are THE most important piece of gear.

step 2. don't be a cheapass on bindings. these are what connects your feet to the board. look into rome 390s or targas, force unions, burton cartels, or similar higher end bindings.

step 3. spend whatever is left over in your budget on the board. your boots and bindings are going to have a much greater impact on your day than your board will. i'd much rather have high end boots and bindings and a lower-end board than i would a really nice board with crap bindings and boots. base your board length on riding style and weight. height really isn't much of a factor.

sports talk is not the board you're looking for.

dubcaps, this is just a deck purchase. I already have nice bindings and boots so i have a fair sized budget on the deck

Thanks for the advice though!

if you have good bindings and boots then install the whiskeymilitia alert on your desk top and wait for a board to pop up on there at half off or more. or check out http://www.departmentofgoods.com
