I know that this is a longshot, but does anyone here have any recommendations for getting custom framing done for artwork? Price is not a particularly important factor (im willing to spend the money for quality) and Id prefer some type of preservation/museum glass. The catch is that I would like it completed prior to christmas. 12/16/2011 3:06:18 PM |

AC Moore. They have that fancy glass and they did a good job with the one thing I needed framed there. Make sure to download the coupon on their website. 12/16/2011 3:07:24 PM |

My mom has done a ton of framework throughout her career and volunteered at a frameshop for a few years, so I've picked up a thing or two on what to look for in a shop.
I did a quick Google search for shops in Raleigh and came across this place - http://www.frameandartshop.com
They seem legit and would be more worthwhile/better quality than AC Moore or other big box stores. The example mats seem a bit odd, but I would assume that they can do a good job of matching the mat and frame to your artwork.

I've had a few things framed at Michaels and the work seems just as good as stuff I've had done at small shops. That being said, I'd consider a gift card our something to have it framed if it's a gift. People have different tastes in framing, and framing can make a huge difference in a piece. If I'm right on that it's a gift, I'd lean toward that route 12/16/2011 3:46:30 PM |

^^ I lol'd
Yes this is for a gift and I fully agree that framing can make or break a piece depending on the individual's tastes. Luckily, I know exactly what she'd like for a frame with a piece like this.
I'm fully prepared to pay a premium for an expedited job. 12/16/2011 4:37:33 PM |

Framing is overpriced, but catch the mom and pop shops before they fold because they're usually under market price and do a better job - else Michael's 12/16/2011 11:35:41 PM |
