One of my former neighbors had a black E46 M3. About a year ago it received some minor front end damage at which point he parked it in the driveway and never drove it. 3 months ago that neighbor and his wife moved away.

But before they left they parked the M3 out on the street in front of another person's house. Since then the car has not been moved at all. It just sits there. This really puzzles me.

Does anyone know what's up with that car?

Still his, couple small things wrong with it to keep it from running. Since he just started a new store he doesn't have the time to come back and fix it.

This thread is further proof that collectively TWW is far reaching and all knowing!

It's a shame its taking him so long to repair it. The front end damage has been there well over a year. An M3 doesn't deserve such treatment

The front hood is dented. Not horribly, but enough to need replacement. The twin kidney grill is also smashed and needs replacement. Not sure about the bumper or anything structural under the sheet metal.

But it's just sat there....it pained me to see it just sitting there, not even in the guy's garage! No love

i mentioned it to him over christmas that i read about his car on the internet. I really don't know what he's planning on doing with it. He's been in Sunset Beach since the beginning of October and hasn't bothered doing anything with it, and it was wrecked sometime over the summer i think? I wanna say it was uninsured or something that he couldn't get it fixed without more problems arising. But if he does try to sell it I'll post a link or his number or whatever

The car is still there. Still untouched and hasn't moved.

What is this guy thinking? Who cares that little about a car to just ditch it like that? The engine hasn't been turned over in at least 7 months.

Probably just hella busy. I left a truck parked at my brother's house for over a year one time. Changed the fluids, started running it again, and sold it when things cleared up in my schedule/life. It wasn't the type of car that was depreciating by thousands of dollars per year though.

I'd still pay cash for this if the price makes it worthwhile for me to have it serviced and the front end damage repaired.

As long as the plates are current, yes.

And even if they're not 99% of the time it's only a problem if a neighbor complains. As long as it doesn't look like a giant oil leaking POS most neighbors will never notice/care.

Considering it. Need to close on a mortgage refi in the next couple of weeks before spending any notable amounts of money though.

only problem is with HOA, for example our HOA doesn't allow long term car parking on the street...over a week and they send you a letter

This could be the part car all the TWW E46 M3 owners need. Now, if each of us could throw some money into the pot, we could make this happen.

So I texted him today and he called me back a while later. He said he was gonna get it repaired and sell it real soon, but said he's not against selling it as is.

He also said he might fix it and take it down to the beach with him. He hasn't lived here since October so that's why it just sits there. He just said off the top of his head $10,000 as it is. It's 2003, 45K miles or so (I don't remember exactly what he said, 40-some).

I guess if anybody really wants to try to buy it as it is let me know and I'll see if he wants me to give out his number, or if not I'll post when it is finally fixed and for sale.

$10K is a steal depending on how much $$ it costs to fix the "minor front end damage". Normally that year and mileage would be in the low $20Ks.

^ a 2003 with 45k for $15? If you can consistently find that let me know. Do a quick cars/autotrader/forum search and you wont that if it doesnt have a salvage title or it will sell within a week. I was thinking much more like $18-22 for a realistic price -- totally depends on the damage and fixes needed.

i forgot i actually did take pictures back in april 2011, so that must have been right around when it happened.

obviously they're not great pics since i took them with my phone a long time ago, but whatever. there's the damage that's immediately visable.
