It's a very nice looking device.

I hope Apple has an iOS rework in the works, because their UI paradigms are getting a bit stale.

How good is Windows Phone's Google/Exchange support too? I'm pretty much entirely dependent on fully functioning calendar/contact sync at this point.

WP7 has the worst looking user interface and they pissed off Verizon so there are no good offerings even if they adjusted it.

I'm with Chance.

I think WP7 has the best interface, for consumers.

I'm concerned it doesn't scale well for enterprise/business users.

It's not that I am trolling here, with a title like Bye bye iPhone I was expecting to be really blown away by the video or at a minimum very interested to see another nice offering out there in the league of some of the best phones avail and...well, underwhelmed would be putting it nicely.

Me too. What a snoozefest. I don't even like my HTC Arrive that much, but Mango is just so damn enjoyable that I don't feel the need to swap out the shitty phone it's on.

I personally wish OpenMoko were available more broadly and that the Nokia N9 could appear in the US.

The Palm Pre had a better chance at knocking iPhone off its throne; that was pitiful.

This thread is pathetic, and I'm actually excited about this phone.

Nokia has a chance to compete with the iPhone in Europe where the installed userbase is already huge, and people wanting to jump off of the dying/dead Symbian platform might go with a known and reliable brand like Nokia.

But in America where the Cult of Apple is already so strong I don't see this challenging it in any meaningful way. It will probably have reasonable success but won't see the kind of sales the iphone or even Galaxy S2 had.

But back to the subject, yeah I'm looking forward to this thing. It's what I expected the Lumia 800 to be in the first place.

IIRC, Nokia is the largest cellphone manufacturer in the world. We don't have a lot of awesome Nokias in the US, but they are real big overseas. Before you knock that, consider that Apple is in the minority of companies that have a habit of releasing the devices in the US before other countries.

Mobile Phone manufacturer, yes. Smartphone manufacturer, no, not even close, but assuming they can transition their mobile phone success into smartphone success, they do have the largest marketshare of users.

nah. apple will just sue them over some frivolous patent claim, and nokia will fold. and the patent will be something absurd like "dialing a phone" or something
