Disclaimer: I've owned Alienware computers for over a decade, long before Dell purchased them. I have the last true non-Dell Alienware models of both the Area 51 laptop, Area 51 desktop, and Aurora desktop. I also have a Dell-era Alienware laptop. I use the Dell Alienware models everyday at work, and I'm still impressed by their performance and design.

The X51 is cool and affordable. I'm going to purchase one very soon.. maybe today. I'll freely admit that you can build or buy a computer with similar performance for a cheaper price, just like you can spend $15k on an 80s Mustang that will smoke a $55k straight-off-the-lot Corvette. Let's just all agree that Alienware computers are expensive and talk about the design/possibilities rather than argue about whether or not Alienware is overpriced or whether or not Dell ruined the brand.

I don't understand the purpose of this? If you want pc gaming but don't want to pay the premium for pc hardware, cloud gaming is what you want, not this. If you wanted a portable rig, why not a laptop? I don't see how this product sells more than 10,000 units, if that.

While I still build all of my computers, it's still somewhat of a hassle especially if something goes wrong.

Nothing has been said about Apple that hasn't been said about Alienware.

Despite that, and knowing the hype of brand and design versus the actual performance, I have owned an Alienware and I was definitely satisfied with the product. This actually looks much more impressive to me than I would have expected, and probably will suit a market well for people who want to get into PC gaming but don't know anything about the hardware or technical aspects of it (and just want to go straight into ownership).

So yea, I understand its purpose, and it does certainly look sleek. I won't be buying one, but I would't be surprised (or on the offensive) if a friend of my intended to get one.

Uhh, why get an alienware "gaming PC" that at best will produce medium detail at 1080P and not have the option for a better gpu than a GTX 555. I just don't see the point other than its pretty.
