I like that they did the classy thing and immediately left. I'm sure they had to restrain themselves from protesting and calling bs. No doubt they were heckling Hess, but from all accounts that i've heard so far, they weren't cussing or threatening (Corch's kids were there, right?). It doesn't appear that they were behaving any worse than thousands of fans do during any given sporting event. Yet Hess decided to make a spectacle of it (while breaking protocol and demanding rpd remove them).

Does anyone remember what transpired on the court immediately before their ejection?

(and let's not be silly, hopefully noone is trying to blame the refs for the loss against fsu or duke. both would have happened no matter who was calling the game)

Can someone fill me in? I missed the entire game because of our baby shower and after seeing the score, decided to just move on.

Karl Hess has gone off his rocker and thought it would be a good idea to eject Corchiani and Gugliotta from the stands on Saturday.

what's the deal with "corchiani is first ejection as fan"? First NC State fan to be ejected by a ref?

Kevin Corchiani made a thread on TWW a while back titled "Kevin Corchiani Is First Movie" and got a lot of flack for his grammatical errors.

there you go. This is one of the many that were cross posted.

Just to be clear--there is not actually a rule that states that former players in the stands are held to a different standard of behavior than Joe Average Fan. Right? Hess just invented that one?

Halfway expected him to give us a bench T while he was at it.

supposedly the final straw that broke Hess' back was after Wood was fouled on the 3-pointer and they actually called it, Corchiani yelled "it's about time"

thats pretty disrespectful...almost as hateful as "miss it Deion!"

ACC has reprimanded Karl Hess

The problem is still the reprimand is about procedure and not the actual action. If they want to reprimand him for procedure they still need to say why he was right to do it in the first place, which we know he wasn't.

"In a response to the ACC, Hess, who started work as an ACC official in 1987, said Corchiani and Gugliotta were not ejected for what they said.

"They were ejected for excessive demonstration on several calls as they came right up to the scorer's table. The policeman at the end of the FSU bench was warned that their continual excessive demonstration that incited the crowd would result in ejection," Hess said."

should be pretty easy to prove if that is true or not, although the 'cop was warned' bit doesn't seem to go along with any other accounts of the story. I was sitting on the opposite side and never saw Googs/Corch going to the scorer's table or inciting the crowd, seems like that would have been pretty obvious.

diffuse [v. dih-fyooz] - to spread or scatter widely or thinly; disseminate.

I'm glad the ACC can disseminate any such situations. Grammar fail on top of Karl Hess fail.

Now I find myself wondering what year the rumors/evidence started that officials favor UNC/Duke in their calls.

unc-ch was getting calls well before 87. And it probably wasn't till the early 90s that duke started overtaking unc-ch for getting calls.
