I want to get a copy of the original Star Wars trilogy on blueray, but I would like to get it without the shitty additions that they later added to the films.

Anyone know if this is available or even exists? Or am I just SOL.

You can get DVDs of the original trilogy that are not special addition, but they won't be HD. Considering Lucas is re-releasing the trilogy for a THIRD time (now in 3D), I actually wouldn't be surprised if he released orig tril bluerays eventually.

He obviously needs money for something. I hear he's making a new Indiana Jones movie. Indy gets a plucky robot side kick and there's going to be a song-and-dance number in the climax.

Lucas is money hungry. He'll wait for the sales of the crappy versions that no one really wanted in the first place to die down then he'll release the versions everyone wanted, sell it twice. Just like with the DVD release.

He's a master at selling the OT over, and over, and over again.

He's already said he's not doing this. Basically said this is his piece of work and anyone who thinks it should be different than what he wants can fuck off. The special additions are now the standard for him.

There's also a big article somewhere about how shitty the current transfers are, but Lucas thinks they are just fine and won't be re-transferring anything else for HD.

Interesting related video on youtube, aside from the actual serious story-damaging changes he made to the movies (HAN SHOT FIRST) a lot of it was what could be essentially a hi-res texture pack for the originals, some parts do look a lot better:
