If you want to teach yourself code and make a game, go for it. People do it.
This is like saying that it's notable that so many successful musicians don't have degrees in music.
Some people don't do well in college, but it's retarded to say no one can get value out of it. It depends on what you want to do ultimately. 3/2/2012 9:52:18 AM |

^^^It's not surprising at all. I actually just find it interesting when notable people have gone to state (somehow they usually end up dropping out though).
I figured this out because I was reading about "Indie Game: The Movie." One of the games featured is Super Meat Boy. There is a screening on 3/16 at Galaxy. And apparently, Refenes will be doing Q&A at the Asheville screening: http://www.indiegamethemovie.com/

Lol at this
Quote : | " In March 2010 at the Game Developers Conference 2010, Refenes defamed Apple's App Store, calling it "awful" and horrible" and likened its games to the crude Tiger Electronics games that were popular in the 1980s and '90s. [7] Seven days after this speech was given, Apple pulled the game Zits & Giggles from the market. [7] Refenes had developed the game and sold it through the App Store in order to satirize what he considered to be the nonsensical nature of the App Store. In response to its removal he and McMillen launched the Super Meat Boy Handheld on the App Store. The game adopted the art style and gameplay of the Tiger handheld series of games. As Refenes described it, "Super Meat Boy Handheld is all the branding of Super Meat Boy, without the actual gameplay or art from Super Meat Boy...and all for ONLY A DOLLAR." |
