Oooo, I love Porter's.

wolfpackgrr, Mo Joe's is still there - I went there a few months ago. Still flippin awesome... and even though their shakes take FOREVER, they are always worth it.

Went to bella monica last night & was not impressed. Its not that the food was bad, just that it wasn't any good.

& Amedeo's is seriously shit. Anyone who eats there repeatedly is out of their mind.

I think Mami Nora's is underated (there's a location in Durham and Raleigh). Not many people know about it, and i think most of it is freakin' awesome (but i do agree, the yucca fries are pretty gross)

Agreed on Five Star being underrated.

I found Poole's to be overrated the one time I went there, but I should give it another chance I guess. I liked Beasley's and Chuck's. Wasn't bad, just wasn't great.

i find baja burrito and mojoes to be slightly overrated. i'd heard so much about both that i expected amazing experiences, but neither were anything out of the ordinary.

I feel that Olive Garden is underrated.
It gets a horrible rap for being so mainstream, but it's pretty good.

I don't know how something that has been voted the best Thai in the area for over a decade now could be considered underrated.

Vic's italian bistro is underrated due to location alone...their food is phenomenal...especially their lobster ravioli.

Most over rated restaurant is Vivace...the lamb appetizer there is terrible. Take my word mane, that mug is no good.

LOL.

I can't believe somebody said Margaux's is overrated, that's seriously the best restaurant in Raleigh along with maybe Angus Barn and Heron's. I grew up in North Raleigh so maybe I'm biased but I love that place.

Overrated: Vivache at North Hills is terrible. nice atmosphere, terrible food.
Underrated: Sadlack's - probably not on this message board but I don't think many older folks in Raleigh associate it with awesome sandwiches. Cloo's is also little known outside of NCSU and has great food. Can't think of many upscale places that I'd say are underrated because any upscale place seems to generate hype in Raleigh

I came in here to post jimmy vs but alas it is in Cary.

That place rocks and either no one knows about it or no one can afford it.

Beasleys does not impress me and is honestly the worst of that resteraunt group but is the most popular

There are a couple of hole-in-the-wall BBQ places downtown on the east side of the city that kick ass.

^ this

My favorite thing on tww is the outrage when someone likes a place that another hates. A close second is "the place is ok but the people who go there suck."

Unless its about pizza, then I'm always right.

meh. i go there for lunch sometimes. it's like $10 and not that impressive at all. i've started skipping that place and going to Larry's Southern Kitchen. why go to the farmers market when you can drive a few more miles and go to larry's?

Nothing special about Mojoe's burgers at all. Utterly forgettable in my opinion.

I have only eaten at The Pit once and ordered the chopped BBQ. It was good but didn't wow me.

I agree about Baja Burrito being overrated. I refuse to eat their burrito's.

I don't know if it's over or underrated because I never see anyone mention it but The Mint downtown has some bomb ass food. I've eaten there twice and everything I put in my mouth was delicious. I could go back again and again just for the yellow tomato soup.

I've never heard anyone praising the place...or seen any awards it's won. Where does it get this reputation for being overrated?

haha I REFUSE!!!! seriously though, that baja salad is good as shit. try that instead of the burrito.

okay, i might give that salad a try, thanks. idk, maybe it's just people i run into that are all like, "mmm baja burrito is so good" or "hey, we're walking over to baja burrito, wanna go?" (with an excited, shit eating grin on their face...no pun intended).

The Pit - used to be good, went way downhill when the original owner left.

Angus Barn - Last few times I've been the food has just been ok. I brought my new boss there during an interview since he flew in from out of town. I was pretty disappointed in the quality after talking it up a bit

just went back and read the thread, seems like my opinion of The Pit was shared back in 2012, haha

I think it is fucking hilarious that WRAL posted last Friday about the "Best Burgers in the Triangle" here:

https://www.wral.com/list-best-burgers-in-the-triangle/17679611/

If you go to the awards link from the article and see how people voted Bad Daddy's was number one, Five Guys was number two. Meanwhile this came out this week:

https://www.wral.com/best-burger-in-u-s-is-at-al-s-burger-shack-in-chapel-hill-/17691305/

So is Chapel Hill not in the Triangle? I looked at some other categories and shit as far away as Kinston was winning, so it seems pretty fucking stupid to me.

Pho Far East if want to eat good fairly cheap. Or the Stanbury if you want to spend a lot of money, i love that place. And I was really impressed with Cortez on my recent first visit (although also pretty pricey).
