He's #11 in the league in sacks with 8.

Mario Williams is tied at #4 with 10

T Manning is going to have all kinds of stuff...I know when Andre was moving practice squad to practice squad the teams he was with put you in a hotel food everything included. He ended up racking up killer points Charlotte one week, Indianapolis another, etc. Eventually finally got a permanent place in NYC. (well actually he got a place in Jersey, but you get the idea)

I don't see why Willie young being in the nfl blows your mind. He's the second most talented end to play at State in our lifetimes.

Better than Manny Lawson, you think? I really don't remember specifically...although in my vague memory, I thought Manny may have been better. But they were all great.

[Edited on November 19, 2014 at 7:30 PM. Reason : i guess he did play a lot of linebacker his first year or two]

"Young attended North Carolina State University, from which he received a bachelor's degree in science and technology. He sat out the 2005 season on redshirt status. In 2006, he played in all 12 games including five starts and recorded 44 tackles including 24 solo and five for loss, one pass broken up, five quarterback hurries, and one interception returned 34 yards for a touchdown.[3] In 2007, he saw action in all 12 games including eight starts. He recorded 16 tackles for loss, 24 quarterback hurries, and broke up six passes.[1] In 2008, he started 12 games and recorded 12.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, and 26 quarterback hurries.[1] The NFL Draft Scout rated Young the 18th-ranked defensive end of the 182 available for the 2010 NFL Draft and projected him as a fifth or six round selection.[4]"

A more talented defensive end? Yes. A better athlete? No.

Lawson is a freak athlete. It's I've of the reasons he was a first round pick. But position-wise he was shuffled around so much in college and then again once he got to the NFL, I can't argue that he's a better DE.

^agree whole heartedly. What's ridiculous though is Manny coming off one end and Mario off the other. That was a fun coupla years on that side of the ball.

we had 3 alums (Rivers, Wilson, Tulloch) selected as their team's nominee for the man of the year award

seems like we'd be the only one with that many, but Miami (Andre Johnson, Calais Campbell, Olivier Vernon) also has 3

I was barely listening to the 49ers-Chargers game (it was on in a place where I was eating dinner) but I think I heard "also from North Carolina State" and I got excited. Just didn't know who they were talking about.

Quote :
"Former Cardinals SS Adrian Wilson announced his retirement from football.
Wilson spent training camp time with the Patriots and Bears late in his career, but never played a snap for either team. He was a career Cardinal, and on Monday signed a one-day contract to retire as a member of the team. One of the NFL's premier box safeties in his heyday, Wilson earned five Pro Bowl trips and one first-team All-Pro berth. He finished his career with 27 interceptions, 16 forced fumbles, and 25 1/2 sacks. Wilson's bust is unlikely to be enshrined in Canton, but he's very much deserving of a place in the Cardinals' Ring of Honor. Apr 20 - 4:27 PM"

Not sure if that's a sign of how we've developed players the last few years or of how good we are going to be if it means the players who left weren't our best.
